Default Is this car worth the money?

Hello,

I'm looking at a Black 1998 trans am ws6, 6 speed manual. The car has 88,000 miles and is in good condition, no dents, wrecks, car is 3rd owner, has t-tops and is all factory. Anyways, the seller is asking $9,350 Do you think this is worth it?

Here's a couple pics,

thanks

I agree with you guys BUT, had a 2000 ws6 with 70,000 miles bought for 10,500 and when we were about to go pick it up he called and told us to shove it up our *** someone else bought it for more. We already had the cashier check and everything, the car was perfect. Dont want to let another one get away

Its also getting harder to come by these cars around my area, everyone thinks "well she blue books for 7,900 but it is MY car, so definitely worth 11,900. Yeahh thats a good price."

If the car completely checks out, and I mean it needs nothing, then that price is OK. However, very soon, YOUR car is going to have over 100,000 miles on it. That magic number brings down the price when it becomes time to sell. You will be fortunate to find a buyer that will give you $7,500 - $8,000 for it. Even that might be a tough price if you mod it and the condition gets worse. Just keep that in mind. Do NOT overpay for this car if the car needs things. Never listen to an owner's BS story either. Form your own opinions and let his words go in one ear and out the other, just like any used car salesman.
Here is the most important factor, and I can't stress this enough. Don't be afraid or reluctant to travel to find the car that meets your wants and needs. One lousy weekend of fast food, gas, cheap motels, is a small pittance to pay to get that right car. Lots of communication, photos, etc.. will give you a real good idea on whether to travel to get that car. Even then it sometimes doesn't work out, but it is worth the effort for such an important purchase. I just travelled 8 hours and 500 miles each way to get my GT last month. I've done the same thing with other cars I have purchased. I've only made one wasteful trip out of 5 'long distance' excursions. The BMW I just sold was to a buyer from PA who flew down to get it and drove it home. Tons of calls and photos. It will work out for you if this one car doesn't. Best of luck!!

What the car is worth with 100K+ miles and as to what it is worth NOW is so totally irrelevant that it isn't in the same stratosphere. For starters;we don't even know if it will be for sale at 100K+ miles, and like every car they all depreciate.

Going in with a mind set of "ok....I have to get a steal of a price NOW, so that when she hits 100K, i don't get screwed" Being in the car business myself, I see this often.

They all depreciate-a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Based on your geographical location, is the car a good deal? I got offered 18.5K for my 25,000 mile WS6 last September. I live in Canada.

Well nevermind told the guy we were coming with cash to get it in 2 days so he sold it to someone else. Imagine that, just like the last one.

When you do get a TA, what do you plan to do with it? Is it a keeper or will you try to flip it and turn a profit?

Yes, so next time you see something that peaks your interest, rather than making internet posts on forums to see if it's a buy--just go and buy it
