2001 pewter WS6 M6 44,000 miles
Hi guys, as title says
01 pewter ws6 m6
44k miles
looks to be in great condition
only mods are slp lid and slp catback
I'd say interior/exterior is 9/10
He wants 15k
I got him to agree to 13.5
Am I still paying too much?

That would be a steal around here in Ohio, like 17-18 asking price here for one with that low of miles. I'd jump on it. BUT, book value on that is about 12-13. Idk why the ws6 guys always think their car is made of gold. They are always priced higher than the Camaros, even though they are the same damn car.

$13.5 is about right, maybe a bit high depending on the car's history. One owner, garage kept, full maintenance records = good buy. Multiple owners, no history, left outside in the elements = too high. It's all in the details.

If the car is clean and well maintained, it could be a nice buy. Based on Autotrader offerings, they are few and far between. What you don't want to have to do is dump $2K within the first 2 years into maintenance items that are on the way out. Would be a plus if that trans is tight, quiet, and smooth. Personally, I would not pay $15K for a 44K mile non-anniversay WS6 M6 unless it was SOM. The WS6 sellers don't determine what their cars are worth. Buyers in the car market do that. And because the Pontiac brand is gone, and the WS6 cars look bolder than SS's, and have a better performance "reputation" whether true or not....they sell for more. Typically about 8-15% more than an SS. When I bought my '99 SS w/12K miles for $12K, I could have bought the WS6 I mentioned above for $16,500. I chose the cheaper car considering the performance would be similar and it was depreciated further by 2 yrs. Actually, my SS came with the Auburn and Performance exhaust, things you didn't get on the WS6 in later years. And it had all the 1st owner documents + maintenance history. That WS6 was out of an estate sale so there were zero documents or maintenance history from the deceased original owner. Still, sometimes I wish I went with the black 2001 WS6....because they are much cooler looking (to me). And that M6 test drove perfectly with the trans as quiet as a church mouse.
I'm surprised that the Ohio WS6 market is so much higher than Illinois or northeast (+30% difference). With that kind of differential, I would think the performance/classic used car dealers would be routinely shipping in nice '98-'02 M6's from down south, upper mid-west/west (ND, MT, SD, CO, UT, NV, WY) or the east coast to sell in Ohio.
Here's a white 2002 M6 WS6 with 26K miles for $17K obo out of North Dakota. A 2001 would be worth $500-$1K less. Deduct close to $2K for mileage up to 46K.

Just to keep up to speed I checked all the lower mileage '98-'02 Camaro M6's on Autotrader.com. (ie under $18K ask price, under 45K miles). Out of 23 cars, only 2 are priced under $16K. Most are in the $16K-$18 range. That was surprising. Seems like M6 owners are asking strong money these days. But "asking" is different than "selling." Maybe it was a fluke that you could find 15K mile SS's back in 2011-2012 for $12K-$13K. While I knew they hadn't depreciated much if any, I wasn't of the opinion that they "are up" $3K-$5K in price over 4 years. LS-1 Firebirds meeting that same search criteria only number 5 on Autotrader (5 vs. 23). That's another reason why the WS6 brings more money.
