Default Fitment Issue - 8.5" Wheel with +28mm Offset

Hey Everyone,

My question is if I can get a spacer so that a wheel with a +28mm offset (5.790") to fit properly. I am guessing that the Rim Diameter doesn't factor in so I left it out. I just want to know if I could get the offset offset/reset (pardon the pun) so that it falls within the +38 to +45 mm offset recommendation for an 8.5" wide wheel. (265/35/R?) for the tire size, if it matters)

Thanks!

Wheel diameter will matter cause you can't put anything smaller than a 15 over LS1 calipers.

What type of wheel are you speaking of?

A spacer doesn't add positive offset it reduces it.
My sig pic shows a Front 18x8.5 wheel w/35mm offset any less then that and the wheel will stick out of the wheelwell.

They're 18x8.5 all around. So since the offset is so high they're going to stick out of the wheelwell no matter what?

Is your car lowered at all? THose 18s seem to fill up the wheelwell more than I was expecting.

Yes the car sits on Strano's.
As stated in the stickies above you need to stay between 35-55mm offsets.
Since your talking about 8.5" wide wheels the lower the offset the better but 28mm is too low.
Just don't want you to spend money on something and then your not happy with the appearence.

So we're talking about these things sticking out less than a centimeter, 7mm right? Or are the measurements off of "real-world ruler" measurements? Thank you for explaining thiss all to me. It's nice that someone doesn't let me wreck my car.

You could use the 28mm wheels but you may have rubbing issues in regards to steering not to mention if the wheel is at full jounce it may come in contact with the front fender.
Heres a better pic when the car was on stock springs

You're right. That is about as far as I would like it to come out. Crap. It is impossible to find wheels I like in the size I want. I don't care about price that much at this point. I would just like to find something I like that works.

I guess I'll have to keep looking. But the rule is the higher the offset the further inward the wheel moves? So a negative number would stick out a lot?
Alright, learn something new every day.

Thank You.

Well if price isn't a issue then look at the top brands that do fit & not the cheapo skinny 8.5's. Look into some CCW's, Iforged or HRE wheels. The CCW's fit perfect & are pure sex.

Aha, yes. But that is where the taste factor comes in. I don't like anything along those lines. My taste is closer to TT2s & Cragar SS's. I settled on a set I believe. I'm having them overnight shipped. As soon as they're on I'm gonna post up a photo.

Well hell, you can get TT2's in a perfect bolt pattern & BS for our cars no problem. Honestly I wouldn't pay for a set of Cragars unless it was for a 60's-70's model car, LOL.

That's the thing. I'm sending my car to Retro Rides this august and want a set of wheels that'll work on it then. That's why I'm looking at a set of 20s.

It's not gonna look like a 4th Gen for much longer. I'm taking it to Retro Rides to make her look like a 1st Gen. A set of C6s wouldn't exactly look right on it. That's why I'm getting a set of wheels that will work after the conversion.

I have seen this attempted in the past & so far no one has been able to make it look right. The body lines do not flow properly but to each their own. I'd say it's a waste of money to convert a 4th gen when you could buy a gutted 1st gen & have a original correct exterior then add 4th gen interior to that.

I don't think that's a good idea... I think if you want retro you should either a) go buy a 1st gen or b) wait til the new camaro is released and get one of those.

This "conversion"=
