What tires and sizes are you running on 17x9
I have a set of 02 WS6 wheels I'm putting on but not sure what size and brand to go with. I want a wider tire in the back like 285 or around that size. What would be the best for a weekend cruiser, my car is lowered and dont want them to rub either.
Thanks.
Thanks.

275/40/17 and maintain the stock tire height. I believe you need a 9.5" wide tire to run 285s (to manufactures specs).

Those would be my first choice 275-40-17, but I really like my BFG KDW2's.
I've got 17k miles on them in a year and they still have 2/3 tread left. No burnouts, autocross, or dragstrip runs though they are to expensive for the size that I have them in 19's

Cool, I wasnt sure if the goodyears were worth the money but the tread looks badass. So the BFG KDW2s are really good too huh? Guess I have to decide between those 2 then. Which one would you go with since they are similar in price?

You could go to 285, 9.5 u need for 295s not 285s.
For 16x8 wheels - max safe size is 255/50/16
For 17x9 wheels - max safe size is 285/40/17
Whatever your recommended tire size is, you can always go +/- 10mm. We should really get this stickied, im getting all my 900 posts from answering these threads LOL
Also, about what that guy said about stock ride height, these are the specs:
245/50/16 is 25.6inch tall
275/40/17 is 25.7inch tall
315/35/17 is 25.7inch tall
285/40/17 is 26.0inch tall
So it's a little taller for you to see exactly

Since they are both similar in price, I think the hardest part would be finding a quarter to flip between the two.

Im running 275/40/17 Kumho Escta's for my rear stock ss wheels. Idk how well these are, as i just got them changed. Before that i had the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS/D3's in the same size. Great tires, and ive driven in the rain with them on the highway. Which turned out fine lol So i would recommend them, but they are a bit pricey.
I was quoted $341 for just 1 tire, plus taxes, mounting & balancing. I got the 2 Kumho's for $378 with taxes, mounting & balancing. If i had the patience to want to wait till next week, i wouldve just ordered me another F1 but i dont lol So i went with the Kumho's not to mention, there alot cheaper.

I have the nitto 555 on my car right and I am readt to change the out after about 40k mile. They are good when in good condition. I still have a little tread left right now but i have no trubst in them.
oh yeah, I got caught in a terrible down pour a couple years ago when they good tread and my back end was skating all over the freeway and I was only going about 40-50 mph

I was running them last year. Great tires. I had no complaints. I never even had any trouble in the rain with them. The only downside, is that they won't last as long as your average street tire. But, I put about 10-12k on them, and still had a little life left. Having them convinced me to go with the same tire in a 315 for my 17x11's.
