Issue with C6 wheels fitting
Having a tough time to get my new C6 wheels and tires to fit on the SS.
Stock ride height. 2002 Camaro SS.
We got the wheels mounted and balanced tonight and went to put them on while the car was on the lift and....
FRONT:
18" x 9.5" fronts mounted on GSD3 F1's 275/40/18.
The fronts rub really hard when turned -- I didn't think I'd have any kind of issue with these but I guess I was wrong.
REAR:
18" x 10.5" rears mounted on Nitto 555R's 305/35/18.
The rears are rubbing on the bump stops pretty hard. Added a .25" spacer and it wasn't even close to being enough to help it fit.
Any tips on helping to get this combo to work. I can't go out any further with the spacer because I still have the stock studs.
For what it's worth, I slapped the 18" x 9.5" fronts on the rear and there's only a minimal amount of clearance from the bump stops. The good news is that it doesn't look like any BFH is needed, however I don't know how to remedy the bump stop and front rubbing issues.

Thanks for the reply -- that's certainly an idea. Sounds much easier than new studs + custom spacers, grind the bump stops, etc.
How reliable are the adapters for a moderate HP setup (600+ rwhp on spray with a decent tire)? I'm thinking a 1" adapter in the rear and a 3/4" in the front would do the trick. Any thoughts?

Hey guys,
Thanks for your help with this.
As requested, here are the offsets:
Front - 18" x 9.5" -- Offset is 56mm
Rear - 18" x 10.5" -- Offset is 58mm
These are the OE Wheels C6 replicas, not the OEM C6 wheels.
Does this info help?

Your front tire size aspect ratio (tire height from rim to ground or diameter) is too high, it should be a 35 series not 40. You probably should have gotten something like a 255 or 265-35-18 for the fronts. The rears you'll probably need a wider spacer and probably went with 295-30-18 series tires for the rears.

I DID have 275/35/18's though.

Is there anything I can do that would help it fit or do I have a pair of front tires that are no good to me? The shame is that they're the Goodyear F1's that are on sale on Tire Rack and they look awesome!

For the rear you can get a set of 20mm hubspacers, and roll the fender lips, and if you don't have a adjustable PHB,get one you'll need it. For the front you have one option, new tires.
Another option for the rear: ARP wheel studs, *BFH mod, *trim/clearance the bumpstop/mounts, reinstall 1/4" spacers.
*repeat if necessary.

I just got the spacers for my set of OE wheels (18s front 19s rear). They work awesome. If you got the oe wheels, there are even recesses on the back of the wheel so you dont have cut off whats left of the studs that protrude past the spacers.

are you sure that your OE C6 wheels are not 18x8.5??? No where on the website have I seen the C6 in a 18x9.5....
EDIT: Let me take that back. Yes OE has 18x9.5" wheels on their website.. But can you get (2) 18x9.5s and (2) 18x10.5 in a package deal? B/C they only offer the 18x8.5 and 18x10.5 in their package deal. Would rather have a 9.5" wide wheel

Yeah -- give them a call and they'll do a 9.5" + 10.5" package -- that's what I've got. The ebay price on the chrome C6 combo is $599 -- tough to find it on e-bay at times, however as long as there's an auction out there with the combo at that price they should honor the price for you.
BTW did you ever figure what spacers you are goign with?
I did some research. People running the C6 wheels used 1.25" spacers for the rear. And some people left the fronts alone, or threw on a 1" spacer..
1.25" adapters/spacers on the rear...actually if you've got a TA, you can even use 1.5" if you'd like a little wider stance. They will fit perfectly once you get the spacers. I paid $67 shipped for mine of of eBay. Look for 5x4.75 spacers/adapters. Fenders won't need rolling after that.
However, if you're running the stock C6 tires, then there's a good possibility it will set off your ABS light. It doesn't like tires that are more than 1" larger in overall height.
Here's a pic of what you're looking for:

Doesn't that make the front tires have a wider stance than the rears?!
The front 18x8.5's were pretty flush with the front fenders without spacers...the rears then sit flush with the rear fenders with 1.25" spacers.
Here's how my rears looked with a 1.25" spacer:

Keep in mind that this is for OEM C6 vette wheels with the rears having a 79mm offset and that the "spacer" being used is an adapter.

Thanks for the pics -- that's certainly helpful.
I have the replica C6 wheels, so the rear has a 56mm offset. Would a 1.25" adapter like BandDirector Blk98ZM6 used above have the wheel protruding way past the fenders? Hopefully it would be close to flush.
