Default how are the Eagle F1 GS-D3's for the money?

I currently have a worn set of goodyear eagle F1 GS-D3 tires on my 1996 Firebird Formula M6, and was wondering for the price are they worth the money? are they good on the street and as daily driver tires, like in the rain etc. How do they hook up in agressive street driving? how about a few runs at the strip?? these tires i have on are from '06 the fronts still have some okay tread left.

i have a set of those on my car currently, and while they are good, they are definitely expensive. when i go to replace them, i will probably go back to the tires i had before, which were Cooper Zeon 2XS tires.....they are about half the price, and probably 85% - 90% of the performance of the GS-D3's.

granted, this is just speaking from a daily driving standpoint, i don't go to the drag strip, and in cornering, it's not quite the same because when i had the Coopers before, they were on the stock wheels and 245 width, while the ones i have now are 275 width....so that will affect performance a bit.

but i think i'll just save the money next time and get the Coopers.

I've had mine for about four years. Gotta use em up before the three year mark before they turn to blocks of hard plastic. GREAT on a bolt on car and EXCELLENT in the rain!!! But they ARE a three year tire. I didn't wear mine out all the way. Fronts are hardly worn, rears are normal wear for an F-Bod with about 480hp. Mine isn't a DD, but I've taken some road trips with it. NM > Vegas, NM > Lubbock TX, NM > Denver CO....

Pic from last year, prolly spring.

I have a set and have always run them...especially since my blowout at 150. The tires simply hugged the rims. If anyone near memphis is interested i will sale my chrome WS6 wheels and tires 90 percnt thread front, 80 percent rear for the low, low. Not really interested in shipping.

IMHO all Good-Years blow. I've had several sets and currently have them on my DD. I have never had that particular tire but know others that have. I'm positive you can get just as much all around performance (if not more) along with longevity, better looks, and comfort at a lower cost.

Look for some BFG's, or Bridgestone tires!

And stay away from Nitto 555's too.

But it's all up to you

I've been doing research on the GSD3 and came across your post. Saying this tire is crap due to the fact other Goodyears models you have had are crap is like saying the Corvette is a POS car b/c Chevy also makes the Aveo, and you have driven the Aveo and feel you can better a better product for not much more. You can't compare one model to another, even from the same manufacturer.

If anything they will hook better with less tread.

GS-D3's are the best tires I've ever had on my car, and I've tried Nittos, BFG drag radials, Falken, GY Eagles and Pilots.

None come close. Wet performance is friggin ridiculously awesome. Dry traction ON MY CAR with my torque and hp.......better dry traction than when I tried BFG drags and Nittos.

Tires account for too much of a cars handling and safety to worry about the price.

Thanks for the feedback! How were they for tire wear? I'm looking at running these just in the rear initially, for what it's worth.
