Too Much Rubber???
I recently have been told that i should not put 315/35/17 tires on my car. The reason being that its too much rubber and it will create too much friction. Any ideas? is this true?

No such thing as "too much friction" lol. Are you going for the look of 315's? If they will fit on your CTS-V then it's all up to you. They will be heavier than 275's or so, but more "friction" is not a bad thing. Ya wanna hook or ya wanna spin?

Depends on the rim offset, but from what I've read on here most T/A guys only have to do minor BFH to the fender to get 315's to fit fine. Rarely would you have to roll the fender, unless if your rims have really low offsets.
I say go for it, your rims are at least 10.5" wide right?

No such thing as too much rubber, but I must say those wheels will look horrid on a cts...they look bad enough on fbodies. A dated looking wheel like that on a very new sharp looking car like that is just a bad combo.

there is such thing as too much rubber, if we are talking about drag racing. if you can dead hook on a 245, then a 315 will slow you down. it creates rolling resistance. also, it is rotating mass. and unsprung weight. all bad. there's a reason people run skinnies up front.
really, it won't make a huge difference unless you're trying to squeeze every 100th out of it, but there is truth to it.
