Borrowing the thread, hope itīs ok.
Just bought four 17x10" Smoothie 2, got some tires fitted and tried them on the car today. I was very surprised when I noticed that the valves are on the inside and they hit the brakes when turning the wheel. Of course it looks nicer having them on the inside but wtf, if I have to grind down the calipers to fit them itīs not worth it...
Is there a standard solution for this? Are the valves always on the inside on these rims or did I get screwed when I bought them and they are som cheapo chinese copy or an odd set of some sort?? Searched for valves with a bend om them thus getting more clearance but I only found those for bikes and ATV:s, not for cars. Do they exist?
Edit: Car is a -99 Trans Am

I'm pretty sure the Boyd Coddington wheels have the valve stems on the outside of the wheel; at least all the ones I've seen have. Are you sure they are true Boyd Coddington wheels?

Get some Gorilla Automotive flush mount valve stems #VS406C
http://www.gorilla-auto.com/valve-stems
I've run them on my SSR wheels for years.

All of the Boyds wheels have the valve stems on the inside because everyone wanted the smooth, uncluttered outer lip. You can try to find the stems with the very short stem but they are very hard to find. Probably your easiest bet would be to get the flush mount stems with the small screw in extension for when you need to fill them up, trouble is, you can't just whip into the gas station to air up the tires. Give up on trying to get ahold of Boyd Jr, he is gone way underground and never returned anybodies calls. I am sure Chris is getting tired of fixing his screw-ups.

I looked into getting a set of the Smoothie II wheels; like them better than the new Smoothie III's. I was quoted from Boyd $510.00 for 1 18x10 and $550 for 1 18x12, so a total of $2,120.00.
