Default Bough "C5" rims from ls1tech member but recieved these.

I bought two c5 y2k polished rims off a member on here since I wanted two lightweight rims for drag radials to match my front rims. Well I open the package today and they are different and not GM, also there was no centercaps but I'm not too concerned about that since that is nothing compared to getting the wrong rims.

I already ordered tires and paint to paint these gunmetal and now I don't know what to do. Here is a picture of the c5 rims I have and the one I got. The spokes are 1.840 inches thick and the C5 thinspokes are supposed to be 1.540.

These are also 20.40 lbs as opposed to 18.0 lbs and have no GM stampings, real pissed.....

Won't say member's name yet to see if he could do something about this.

It depends on how they were advertised. If he had "OEM" in the add or advertised them as "Genuine GM" wheels, then I think you do have a case of fraud on your hands. However, if they were just advertised as C5 thinspokes, then I think that maybe you should have asked more questions. I personally would have put "reproduction" in my add, but if they're not advertised as "OEM" or "Reproductions" then I think that should be one of the buyer's first questions. I do think that centercaps should come with the wheels unless it specifies that they're not included though.

Good luck with getting it worked out!

He called them C5 Y2k rims and had pictures of the 18 inch genuine GM rims on his car and said these were the front 17s he had since he did 18s all around on his car.

I could have overlooked the centercaps but these wheels are not acceptable, I made it very clear that I had c5 rims and wanted two matching ones for DR's and that I was going to paint them gunmetal.

C5 y2k's usually mean c5 y2k's....not just any 5 spoke rim. He had pictures of OEM 18's and said he had the front 17's still. Really hate low people like this.

He knew they were not OEM or a correct reproduction since he has original C5 rims on his car. Again, these were supposed to be the two 17 inch fronts to the set of OEM set he had on his car...

If the transaction took place through the mail, you may be able to file a claim of mail fraud with the Post Office if the seller is unwilling to refund your money.

Camz, is this all really necessary? I told you these were 17 inch reproductions. I told you I had a for sale thread for these around the 28th of April. In my ad it says NOT OEM GM and no center caps.

OE Wheels carries a repro C5 Y2k, and they even come in deep dish.. They're still called Y2Ks.

When I bought these 17 inch fronts from the GM dealer in about 2003 I knew they were reproduction wheel. I was not going to pay the $$$ for a real GM wheel at that time. I had in my posession a pair of GM 18s given to me by a mechanic from that dealer to have a complete set to put on my car. I used these 17s and 18s forever. I did not realize the reproductions were not exactly like the GMs to the "T", but maybe thats why they are called reproductions and can't be exactly the same, probably a copyright thing?

And once again, you shouldve asked for pictures of the wheels he was selling. You saw pictures of the OEM wheels he has, not the ones he was selling. I dont buy anything used on the internet without seeing pictures of the product. You honestly couldve been screwed, and ended up with 2 damaged wheels.

All im saying is, when buying on the internet you need to get pics of the product before you buy.

i just looked back at the for sale posting and it says not OEM and there is no center caps/ it sucks to get the wrong thing but i think he listed it to the best of his knowledge.

i bought some rims before and was told they were for a Chevy/Toyota 6 lug and it turns out they were for a small 6 lug dodge Dakota(i didn't know there was even a small 6 lug lol)

Sorry, but I think most people would side with the seller (as I do).

I call replica zr1 wheels, zr1s. And I call replica c5 y2ks, c5 y2ks. If you were looking for oem wheels, you should have confirmed they were OEM wheels prior to buying them. Just my opinion though.

I think the seller should have said they were replicas. You should have asked him and made sure they were OEM however.

Looking back at the thread I found, the seller posted that they were not OEM, and that there were no center caps. Sounds to me like he made no mistakes.

This.

No wonder you wouldn't specify who the seller was, he was painfully clear they weren't OEM, and did not have center caps...
