I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I wasn't able to find the exact info I need through search. I have a 2002 WS6 T/A. I'd like to get some American Racing TTM or TT2 wheels and want to know how big I can go out back without modifying the body at all. I don't want to deal with the wheels rubbing while cornering either. I also want to lower the car a bit...nothing crazy, just enough to give it that 'level' look. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Wow, 315s will actually fit without rubbing? I always thought they wouldn't fit, but if I can get tires that wide back there I would definitely do it. I should also mention that I like the looks of 17" wheels and will not likely get anything bigger than that.

was that without any BFH work. because i beat the hell out of my inner wall to fit my 315's. AND had to grind away half the bumpstop
edit : well i guess, if your not trying to tuck them it is possible.

So that being said are the stock 275s the widest that will fit without banging on the fenders?

I have 315's. BFH inside to clear inner fenderwell works OK. But even after rolling the inner exterior fender they will rub. The tires are wider than the body of the car so no amount of rolling will fix that. Lowering makes it worse -forget having a 3rd person in the car.
I'm gonna flare the rear fenders in December hoping to improve the situation.

Iv had 315's on my trans am for almost 3 years now, Iv never done the BFH, and iv never rolled the fender lip. They have never rubbed.... iv had the tires off the car atleast 10 times since iv had them and never seen any signs of rubbing. My car is also lowered with a eibach pro kit. I have an adjustable panhard hard too though.

I have a 345 on the back of mine. Stock rear springs with iso's removed.
I had 315's on mine with a +54 offset and never rubbed or had to do any kind of modding to run them.

I believe that the 17x10.5 TTM come in a +44 offset and do not rub with 315/35/17 on stock height springs. I had a 95 with this setup, lowered which only rubbed when you hit a significant bump at interstate speeds (80+) which would have most likely been fixed with some newer stiffer shocks...
On that note, I am going to pull the trigger on some TTM for my 02 real soon and 17x9 front and 17x10.5 rear +45 and +44 I believe is the right offset. 275/40 front and 315/35 rear tires... Same as I had before.

TTII's and 315's in the rear here, never have had a problem.......now with that said they do run close to the inside fender well.....3 years never did any type of modding to get them to fit. Since i was doing my suspension over again, i BFH the wells pretty good and repainted them so that i would have some more room.
But 315's can fit with no modifications(depends on mfg. of tire, all 315's are actually different widths)

Keep in mind, trans ams have slightly more room then camaros. Hence why you will hear of people doing more hammering on camaros then the trans ams. With the right offset, you should be able to throw 315's on without practically doing ANYTHING on a trans am. Higher then that your going to need to hit the fender walls and most likely roll the lips if you haven't for 315s.

I was planning to go with some Nitto DRs...any idea if those fit well? I had no idea the T/As had more room in the wells than the Camaros. Good news for me though as I'd like to go with 315s so that I can get that dished rear wheel look.
