Default Ordering Weld RTS rims, Fronts too OR the Weld Alumastar skinnies??

Hey all,

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Weld RTS wheels and i'm trying to figure out if the Weld alumastar skinnies would look better on the front than the RTS's do. Any opinions on this?

Could use some pics of both for the fronts please.

Thanks!!

Having seen both in person, I like the one piece Alumastar fronts. Just nicer to me and probably a little lighter. Been trying to get my buddy to switch to RTS rears instead of his Alumastar rears though. I think that combo would look amazing!

Yea those are the ones I was referring to, the Weld Alumastar 1 piece fronts, and run it with a deep dish rear Weld RTS 15x10 4.5" b.s. I like the way the base of the spoke meets the rim compared to the RTS skinny.

Weld RTS skinny.....

VS.....Alumastar

Just keep this in mind, the Alumastar is a drag race specific wheel, and the RT-S is designed for street and strip use. Order according to where you will be driving.

Right but i've run draglites, alumastar 2's, prostars and Bogart D10's, all in a 3 1/2" skinny and never had any issues even once. I also watch where i'm driving too so no doubt that helps.

It seems like the 1pc Alumastar has about the same curvature as the RTS but with thinner, sexier spokes that meet the rim better than the RTS skinnies do with the raised rim area that it mates with.

Anyone else think they would look better together possibly?

I personally like the Alumastar fronts with the RTS rear combo..I think it looks sick. The RTS fronts also look great, I just like a skinnier front spoke, I don't know why.

Have you seen this combo done before? Got any pics? i've searched and came up empty. Also, do you have to run a spacer with the alumastar in a 15" version? Thanks!

1 more thing since you deal with weld a lot, is there a difference in the finish or is it just the 2 pics above make em look different? The alumastar looks SUPER shiny!!

My car has 15x10 RT wheels (Same as RTS only bolted together instead of welded) and 17x4 Weld Alumastar fronts.

The polished finish on the RTS wheel and the Alumastar wheel is the same finish. The 15x3.5 Alumastar will not clear front brakes without a spacer or grinding. The 17x4.5 clears fine. Some don't like the 17" front look, I was in love with it, and got compliments on the wheel setup everywhere I went.

Yea i know and i love it! lol I was just hoping to see what 15's all around looked like, especially if it had a deep dish rim. Maybe i'll be the first to do it IF i can get a good price on a set of used alumastars! They're pretty pricey!

It's been done, I had a ton of pictures saved but I lost them all when my laptop crashed. There was a member on here who had them on a red Camaro SS.

It's my understanding if you order the medium mounting pad wheels for the "oversized" brakes you don't have to do any grinding AND the RTS line of wheels can be used on the street. Those are the two main reasons they're on my list when I get tax returns.

I searched for a little bit but couldn't find any exact numbers on how much these things weigh, anyone know?

Fronts fit perfect with the mediums as mentioned and it's been said 99% of the time the rears do but like 1% for some reason have had to take like 2 minutes with the grinder on the fins of the rears. Extremely simple.

Summit, Jims Racing Tires, and our LS1tech site sponsor Texas Speed now sells them. Do you have a stock length rear end? I can get you part numbers if you'd like. Just let me know what finish and what rear.
