Default Will a 28x12.5 inch tire......

Fit without any problems? It would be on a 15 inch rim, 10 inches wide. Will I need to hammer, or will I need spacers?

If yes, will a 26x11.5 inch tire be a better choice? Will this size need hammering or spacers?

Thanks

*edit* Yes these are for the rear

I know this isn't a very good shot, but it's all I have right now:

These are 28x12.5x15 ET Streets. They had to readjust the panhard bar a million times to get it just right. He didn't mention cutting out the bump stops or doing any hammering but he may have done some... The fender lips aren't rolled though but there is less than an inch of clearance. If you don't need the 12.5 then I would avoid them. It seems like a lot of hassle...

I don't need the 12.5, no. So would a 26x11.5 do fine for me? In that picture, is your car sitting normally, or is it on a jack of any kind? Thanks for the pic

I saw that picture of TR's black SS with the 26x11.5 mounted on his car. They look awesome, those are what I will get

What about speedometer recalibration? Will I need to recalibrate due to the tire change? I know I will for the new gears once I get my new rearend, but what about the tire change?

Car is sitting normally. I would think the 26x11.5 would be fine... Not sure if you will need to recalibrate for the tire change. Great tires, though!

if you are going on a stock rim (16x8), i wouldnt run the 11.5" wide tire. first you wont get it to the ground so what does it matter. the tire will cup. second, it is tire height that truely matters in traction, not width. you want that wrinkle in the sidewall. calibration doesnt matter if this is a track or weekend warrior only tire. i ran 26x10.5x16 on stock rims for a while. i cut 1.63s pretty average with them on a manual car and halfass track. they fit nicely on a stock rim as the tires are only about 9" width section. they are also a no worry low maintaince tire.

also you better ditch the stock 3.42 if you want to run anything bigger than a 26" radial tire. you will bog and slow down.

untill you make a lot more power and gearing, you wont benefit from a bigger tire. a nice compromise are the tires i run. M/T 28x9 ET Drag. they are only 27.3" tall.

Take a look at the 2004 pictures in my webshots page in my profile.....

I got 28x12.5x15 ET streets on 15x10 prostars, I'm running a 5/16 spacer, extended studs, and I had to pound out the fender wall, bump stop is completely taken off, running V8 springs in the back...not much clearance to the rear bumper, I think they will rub when I go WOT....

O, and the grinding of the calipers......
