Shipping Help...$700!!
I just bought wheels from a member on here, chrome Z06's, that were in San Diego. I am in Afghanistan so I had a friend in SD go pick them up. Today he went to fed ex to ship them to my house (North Carolina). Fed ex quoted him over 700 dollars to ship 4 wheels with mounted tires, is the accurate/normal or does this seem high. I have a hard time choking down 700 dollar shipping for wheels i paid less than that for. At this point they may be going up for sale...

^^^^ Sounds good. We use them at work, also Fed Ex Freight (economy) is good.
Did your friend specify which fedex? There's FedEx GROUND, and FedEx Express. Two different companies basically.
The place your bud went to might have been giving him Express prices, meaning 2 day or overnight shipping, which you obviosly don't need.
I had the same prob when buying wheels from a member here a few years ago, I wanted fed ex ground, they were trying to sell him express shipping at like 100 per wheel. He called me before doing it, and we were able to straighten it out. I used my work's acct#, and I think it cost me like 60 bucks for all 4 of them by FX Ground.

i used USPS when shipping a set of wheels to canada.
but your wheels are chrome and have tires so its gonna weigh more but maybe $700 is for like overnight or 2day shipping or something plus if u have them package it for you they charge as well.
i would use USPS

you can save more money if he can package them for you.
if you have rims w/ tires this is a way to ship them ->http://www.iscenem.com/forum/threads...ing-Rims-Tires
or if u want to put em in boxes uhaul sells large boxes for like $3bucks and he can use newspaper, towels, styrofoam, etc to fill in the gaps and make it more snug
it was only wheels it was like $160 for all four i just packaged them in their original boxes they came in. the wheels were 18x8.5 and only weighed like 19lbs.
