is anyone running firestone wide oval or kumho tires
been trying to choose on a set of new 275/40/17 tires and was wondering if anyone was running firestone or kumho.i like the tread design on the firestone wide oval indy 500 and noticed the kumho's give 30-40000 warranty on treadwear.i don't drag race just wanting something with a little grip and life to them.any info will be nice, thanks

I've run Kumho's on a few cars and have always liked them. They hold up well, ride/noise is decent and the price is right. Had the Ecsta ASX on my Camaro for a while, no complaints at all. Only reason I have Sumi's now is because I got a great deal.

I've have a set of kumho's escta supra 712's in a 245 55 16 on my v6 bird on third gen black gta rims and it handles well decent traction and yes I know the tire I mentioned has been out of production for a long time
Also Im gonna throw this out there I've had multiple sets of Yokohama advan's and toyo proxies 4's the latter being a great all weather tire good treadlife good all around performance tire got about 30k out the front tires the rears prolly around 15k I went thru 2 rear sets and one front set in the same timeframe but those where on my formula on a set of heavy crager ss 610 series

I believe the Kumho your looking at is an all season tire. Its a good one , but would not offer as much dry grip as the Firestone Wide Oval which will help you put down the power!

Wide ovals are great tires.
I've had them on 3 different cars.
I have a pair of the originals on the rear of my SS, a pair of the new "Indy 500 wide ovals" on the front of my Dad's vette, and a full set of the new ones on my girl's 95 Z-28.
By far the best tire you can buy for the money, and they make them in the 295/35/18 profile too.

I have heard that the fire stones have a tread wear rating of 400, which as i understand it as awesome for a performance tire. and as mentioned above they hook up and do well in all conditions.....MY NEXT SET!!!305s rear and 245s front

I've had Kumho Ecsta tire's for several years now. I started with the Supra 712's and then ASX's. I currently have ASX's on the front and XS's on the back. I've been very pleased with the Kumho brand. The ASX's are all weather, and work very well. The XS's are a summer tire and work very well in warm dry weather. But they are scary in the winter until you get some heat in them.

Have kumho ecsta supra`s on my v6 , 275s in the back , theyre good in the dry , especially if you get some heat on them .
However theyre a joke in the wet .
I have chirped them up to 3rd gear in a stock auto with a V6 though so maybe not the grippiest road tire , good enough for DD`ing in the city though .
