Default what size tires front and back for 17x8.5 wheels?

On a 2000 z28, what size tires can I run on the front and back on 17x8.5 wheels in all 4 corners? I believe the wheels are y2k vette replicas with +56 offset

In the back I want 275 to be the maximum, but would 255's work in all corners, and if so, what sidewall ratio?

If someone could just make a list of all reasonable possibilities for front and back options, that would be awesome!

the above wud work i have on all 4, i think a 255/45 wud work, hard to find good tires that size tho. there is a tire calculator in this section that works perfect to tell u size differences in overall diameter, enter some sizes and see if they work out to be the same diam.

my wheels are actually 17x8.5, so can I still run 275/40/17's on the back? I found a pair for a good price

You should run a 255/45/17, not a 275.

okay, gotchya. so 275's will just not fit, or it's just advised against due to potential problems/issues?

Yeah a 275 will fit, but you basically have no warranty at all on your tires since you didn't stick with the manufactures recommended wheel width range which is 9"-11" for a 275/40/17. IMO if you want to get the best performance out of your tires then you'll want to stick the recommended size range. For example, a 255/45/15 has a 8"-9.5" recommended wheel width range.
