Default Crappy selection of 315/18 tires for all weather use.....what the hell.......

Do I suck at searching or what.......?

I see a Falken for ALL weather........otherwise everything is a drag tire with shitty tread wear ratings.

Right.....?

Looks like I'll have to get 17x 9.5 rims and then widen the damn things to 11"....because I need to have at least 315's on the back.

Unless I'm just not seeing them.......??.?

Yokohama Advan Sport......315/35/18 on a 18x10.5" rim.

Is this really all there is......180 tread wear.

Pirelli and Michelin tires look kind of cheesy and the Falken tire I heard is no good.

well, not trying to be a smartass, but most people, well some people, myself included, dont drive these cars in 'all weather' conditions. so they cater to the market, summer performance tires and dr's. if u HAVE to drive in snow/rain/sleet/crap, well, that sucks, ive been there too. lot of people buy cheap beater for winter time around here, to keep the cars nice. lot of money in my wheels/tires, no way it will see snow, and only sees rain if i forget to check weather. not to mention, if u have to have at least 315s outback, how the heck do u handle it in snow? sorry if i sound like a doush, just saying thats why the market is geared that way.

I'm down here in South Florida......All weather to me is just sunshine or rain. It'll never see snow. But we have rainy summer days all the time and a lot of light drizzle days on sunny days.

I need tires that are good in the rain.

Im getting two extra rims and widening them to 11.5" and putting Hoosiers on them for roll race days.......but I need normal radials for most of the driving.

I'm used to my Goodyear GS-D3's or the Nitto 555 Extremes I've had the past 10 years in 315/17 on the rear. Amazing tires in the rain and they last forever.

Too bad these 315/18 tires that are available have such low tread wear ratings.

I'm thinking maybe the Yoko Advan Sport 315/30/18 with the 180 tread wear is the best I can find. Then I'll use the Nitto 555 Extremes in 275/35/18 up front.

I've had great luck with falkens. I wouldn't be afraid to run them or recommend them to anyone.

BFGoodrich G-force Rivals come in 315/30/18 and have a tread wear rating of 200.

They're only from tire rack though

If your not seeing snow then honestly dr's aren't bad...i had a set of nitto nt555r on the rear of my car for years and they were fine in rain and actually lasted quite a while but they were 305/35/18...the toyo dr's come in a 315/35/18 and from what i hear they last about as long as the nittos and grip better. Otherwise you are pretty much stuck with tires that are made more for autocross and road racing like the bfg rival or toyo r888 although i have heard those tires are usually pretty good

Thanks, I missed that one. That's a good choice right there.

I tried the BFG drags in 315 years ago....they lasted only 3,500 miles. And that's with literally zero burnouts or spinning my tires for fun. Just driving and aggressive accelerations. In the rain, they would lose traction just changing lanes in light rain at 35 mph......dangerous tire when it's wet.

I need to find something that can just drive safely in the rain at or below the speed limit and absolutely zero aggressive driving......just in case I get caught in the rain.

I won't be going crazy on these tires, just when I'm out driving the car and not planning on any serious racing or highway pulls.

The big Hoosiers will be for when I try to put down my 1,000+ RWHP......LOL

Bfgs are notoriously worse then nitto dr's in the rain and wear alot faster.

Rain and lateral grip is where I noticed a big difference in the falkens. I like htem a lot. I also had a set of bfg's and they wore out in no time, didn't grip well and were rough riding.

You could go with a 295/35/18, and run a Continental ExtremeContact DWS.
There's also several summer tires with good rain ratings, Nitto Invo, BridgestonePotenza RE760 Sport, ContinentalExtremeContact DW,

I think I'm gonna go 335 and these BF Goodrich G-Force KDW 2.....$352 each

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

OR

If I stay 315......BF Goodrich Rival......$318 each.....bad.

I'd go with the 315/30/18 g-Force Rival, it only need a 10.5" wide wheel, the 335/30/18 g-Force T/A KDW 2 needs a 11.5" wide wheel.

I like the 335 idea. You're going to widen the wheels right? I had mine widened, I'm currently running 315 nitto that I like but I have the room to fit 335's so that's what I will be running when these wear out.

I know nitto makes the 335 in 17", I never looked for 18's but I would recommend them for decent traction, treadwear, and rain performance has been good too.

I had so kumho's before these that I think had sat too long and got hard. I noticed an immediate difference in comfort when switching to the nitto's.

I wouldn't touch those bfg's though. Not trying to rain on your parade, I've just never liked them on anything. I think they wear for ****. Kinda like coopers..

If you decide to run a 335/30/18 why not go with the GForce rival? That way you can avoid using a DR.
