Default 02 Transam WS6 - Biggest Rear Rim that can fit?

Ok guys I know this has been talked about at length etc, but I cant seem to locate a definitive answer as to what the largest size rear rim would be that can fit an 02 transam? I want to widen my stock WS6 Aluminum wheels, I dont really want to do the BFH mod but I will if I have too.

Anyway will a "10.5" or 11" modified 17" WS6 rim fit an 02 Transam WS6 without the BFH mod or?

let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Pat

I've run a TTII 17x11" out back with no rubbing at all (315 tire)...currently I'm running CCW 505a's 20x11" (325 tire) with a tiny bit of rubbing. Also, I am lowered. For a widened WS6 rim, you will probably have to run at least a 1" spacer to make up for the 2" you are adding to the inside of the rim.

Correct me I'm wrong but without doing the BFH mid I can widen my rims to 10.5 and run a 1" spacer for 315s?

Thanks

You can fit a 11" wide wheel in the back with a 7.75" backspace ~ 45mm offset. You'll probably need an adjustable panhard rod to center the rear. Some BFH or fender rolling might be needed.

315/35/17. Same sidewall height as the stock 275/40/17.

So is 315/35/17 the biggest you can go on a stock car? Whats the biggest you can run with the stock rim? What is the biggest size rim and tire on a 02 T/A? If you need to BFH or use A fender roller to make it fit thats fine. What spacer would you have to run to make it all work?

There are some guys on here running 345/30or25/19s with rolled fenders, BFH, spacer, and cut bumpstops. but gotta have a lot of power to turn those. rolling resistance is insane on something that big.

No I'm not advertising for them.......but if you're gonna get your wheels widened.....use Team 3 in San Fransisco.......DO NOT use Weldcraft.

Call "Team 3" and he'll explain why you want to use his process....and NOT Weldcrafts process. Is a little complicated, but obvious why you don't want Weldcraft to do it.

I've been running 315's on my factory 17x9's for 10+ years. I felt a tiny little rubbing in hard turns. So I popped both rear tires off and saw the little quarter sized area where both tires would rub. I smacked those spots maybe 6-7 times each with a hammer, spray painted that area black and its never rubbed again, no matter how hard I turn.

Put a 1/2" spacer on and bang the inner wells some more and you can use 335 with no problems. 20mm is easy all you'll add to the inner side. Bang 10mm and a spacer for 10mm.

Im not quite sure what you mean by that? Sorry if I dont understand but I have never done this to anything. So I use a 1/2" spacer to run the 335's on the stock 17x9 rims or a 20mm or 10mm? I dont quite understand. How wide a rim can you run? Whatever fits the 335's? I read on here that your cant run 315's or bigger on the stock rim. What size rim and offest/spacer would you need to make the 335's fit?

Thanks for your info

315s on stock 17x9s??? That seems a bit too much. How does that look/feel? Will the car drive/handle any better? I may consider stepping up to 295s on my stock 10 spokes but 315 just seems ridiculous imo unless you're maybe using 555s which tend to run small...

No no no......I was saying you can fit a 335 tire with some banging on the inner wells with a hammer.....AND also using a 1/2" spacer.

But you will need a wider rim......11" wide will work. So you would have to have 17x9 rims widened to 11"

So the 1/2" spacer will move the 11" rim out about 12mm and banging the inner wells will give you another 12mm of clearance. So that's about 1" that the 335 tire on an 11" rim will be further in than the stock 275 tire sits.

If it still runs just beat the inner wells another 10-15mm.........they will fit and not rub. You also need to remove the bumps tops.
