Default New z06 will have michelin pilot sport tires

I watched YouTube about the new z06 vette. It will have Michelin pilot sport tires. The guy on the video said the tires were super sticky. So punched in the size 275/40/17 on eBay to see the price. They are $1200 for 4 tires. I was shocked. Is there something similar on a budget.

Tire rack lists sumotoyo (something like that) for $360. What's a good tire for a fair price

Nitto NT555 is a good all around tire. The NT05 is a little stickier from Nitto. Both are priced well.

Other good choices:

BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2
Continental ExtremeContact DW
Goodyear F1 GS-D3
Mickey Thompson Street Comp
Falken Azenis RT-615k

I think the NT05s are WAY stickier than the 555s. I've had both. I use the NT05s as summer only and the 555s as all seasons.

I have the Michelin pilot SS and they are awesome. Super sticky with great tread life. They are up there among the stickiest you can buy for the street and still have a 300 tread wear rating and a 30k mile warranty. Not to mention they have a soft sidewall so they ride great. Well worth the money in my opinion.

My price range is between $500 to $600. Weekend driver, no track. I'm upgrading from 16" to 17".

Nitto 555 is your only option in that price range IMO.

555s have been great for me. Sticky when the weather is nice and does well if I ever get caught in the rain.

^^^^ This. And you will read reviews on the Vette forum in the Z06 section that back this up. The PSS is the all around tire to have. Now for track days, the Pilot Cup tires are great. Also, you could never go wrong w/ a Hoosier A6/R6 for the track as well.

the MSS in 17's (limited sizes) will be around $800, Sport Cup's dont come in 17's. A6/R6 is not a tire you buy for a non track weekend driver.

Nitto 555's are your better option.

And if you wanted to run a DOT tire on the street, the R888s would be my choice as they can handle the rain.

$5-600 a tire or a set?

If it's a tire......then we can talk some damn nice tires.

If it's a set, and you're doing no track...then why do you care about such a thing? You're never going to get that great of traction on the street, so just get a regular street tire and call it good. I will never understand people that think they need some crazy tire if they never race the their car on a track.

I have had different tires and driving on the street, you still want the car to handle good.
Most people don't take their cars to the track.

$1,200 for those tires doesnt sound too bad. I think they're a little over $500 each in the Z06's size. But those tires are meant for handling and braking.
