Default Which rim is lighter, 10 or 5 spoke.

Anyone know which rim is the lighter of the two pictured? 10 spoke or 5 spoke? I checked some of the previous posts about weight loss but never could determine which rim is being referred to.

I have the 10 spoke but like the 5 spoke better and if the 5 spoke is a little lighter then I might try and find some.

I doubt there's much of a weight difference at all. The way it's constructed is more important.

I am concerned with weight for drag racing purposes. If I can lose 4-5# total of unspring weight that would be a lot for me. So even 1-2# difference per rim is important.

The snowflake on the right weigh 17 lbs. and are the lightest factory rims that came on the 2000 camaro z28 according to this site. I also have them they came stock on my z28 so i left them on and run mt drag radials on them, nice sleeper look! Granted they are not the nicest looking rim that was offered though.

If weight is so important why not an aftermarket set of wheels? Or have the fronts cut down in width?

If you're drag racing, then this comment is even more important to you.

Don't go cheap and risk the safety of others just because it's cheaper. And like another guy mentioned...if you're so concerned with weight, just buy a set of light wheels made for drag racing. It doesn't seem like you're too concerned with weight if you're only considering factory wheel options.

My car only runs mid to high 11's, any factory rim will be more than strong enough.

I can tell you plenty of stories about safety. You are preaching to the choir.

I don't have the disposable income to go spending a bunch of cash on rims right now but I can get a factory 5 spoke for cheap.

Not worth it, though I realize you probably wont believe me. I've had a few sets of wheels on my car, I've got a shoe box full of time slips, and I'm smart enough to compare them all. Not worth the trouble or expense to go from one stock wheel to another, and id probably still say that if they were free.

No, I realize the gain may be marginal if weight difference is small.

You misunderstood again. The gain will be NONE. Sorry.
