Anyone here drive to the track on slicks and skinny's?
I am running hoosier front runner's and 28" QTP's on my car.
Am concerned about how my rather lightweight front skinny's will handle a 45 mile run to the strip at 55-60mph.
I know the QTP's can do it, but those front tires are sure thin.

I ran M/T front runners for about a year on a daily driver over some pretty rough highways. Not sure what the difference between those and yours. Ran em right down to the cords because I was young and poor.

I plan on putting skinnies on my car i have the rims just waiting to get tires. Id b curious to c what tires wveryone is running. And i think you will b fine driving on skinnies from what all ive read. Just dont corner hard. And alot depends on what the weight ratings and speed ratings are.

i don't think they are good at handling sustained speeds such as a highway cruise. Short bursts is fine such as a drag strip. I have MT ET Fronts and it's clearly labelled not to use on the highway but I'm pretty sure that's just to deter people from going roll racing with them in mexico where they will surely fail. I've driven 1/2 hr to and from the track a few times no problem.

Just understand that if you get in any discussion with a cop,, its not going well, and if you actually had an accident got wrote up by the cops for the tires your insurance is fubar...
I used to have a SCCA Nissan 200SX (S12) decals and DOT race tires, drive it about 1 mile from my yard to the track. After the third time I got pulled over I gave up.. was not worth the hassle.
Of course the car was red and white had stickers numbers a full cage and since it was a turbo it only had a can muffler.. So it was right at the legal limit for loud..

Last three years I have daily'd on skinnies. Bias are sloppier and sketchy in rain (MH Bias DOT), and this year I'm on MT 28x6.00x17s. Current tires drive great but they are heavy.
