gs d3s the verdict I got some rims awhile back and I am going to get some tire prices tommorow. At first I was dead set with the nitto 555rs all around. lately It seems money is an issue and I am looking for something with decent performance on dry pavement that will last somewhat longer. I avoid rain and plan on doing some suspension upgrades coilovers, shocks, subframes, ect. My car will not see any track time at the moment and is just a street machine. So I have started to lean towards the gs d3s as I feel they will work the best for my application now. I am wondering if anyone that has had experiance with these tires can tell me good or bad? By the way I am running 9.5 inch width up front so I was thinking 275s and a 10.5 inch out back so I was thinking 295s. This is all with an 53 mm offset. It should work, but I am just checking. Hey thanks for answering, but I have a new problem. I can't seem to find the gs d3s anywere in 295/35/18. I have checked tire rack and discount tire direct. They both have them in 275/35/18, but not the other. What should I do or is there a place were I can get them in 295? Thanks alot
I haven't driven on them myself yet, but have heard from a lot of people that they are a good street tire, but if you like cornering hard that they feel all like they are gonna roll off the rim. My buddy has them on his T/A and you don't hear near as much water splashing in the fenders as before. He said they have really good wet grip too.

GS-D3's= Bad ***. Dude I love mine. But no they don't make 295/35 18's. You could always get the D3's up front and then run Supercar's in the rear but I have not had experience with the supercar's.

They are great in the rain, I like the way they drive.
I went oversize w/ 285/40R17 to get a little more
meat but they are a bit squirmy if underinflated,
need 32PSI to be fairly firm in the sidewall. They
are good on the street but don't hook for **** at
the local track where the surface is mostly other
peoples' rubber. Great tread pattern for water.
Seem to be wearing pretty well. I got a local
Goodyear/Gemini chain to price-match the Internet.

Just yesterday I replaced my rear Nitto 555R 315's with the GSD3's. They were about an inch wider. I'm running the rears at 28psi and they are pretty stiff feeling, great for handling, but I'm going to try some lower pressures.
They make the drag radial feel like they were squishy while these are tight and firm. I like them so far, but I haven't tested their grip. I'm going to have to open up the wheel wells a little more to prevent rubbing.
One odd thing is that now the steering feels a little twitchy and less stable, like I need to remove a little toe-out to regain the straight line tracking. Anyway, I'll report back when I have more info.

They are a AWESOME tire... period
I am running 285/35-18's on all corners with 18x9.5" Z06's, 54mm offset. I have no rubbing up front, a little on the back on HARD cornering, fixed with BFH mod.

I agree... I absolutly love these tires. Great wet/dry traction, and they handle like a champ around bends and on/off ramps.
On my GSD3 315 rears, Their grip is almost the same as the Nitto Drag radials as far as street driving is concerned. I think the wider footprint helps compensate for the slightly harder rubber compound. They seem to have a pretty stiff sidewall which I'm still getting used to. At 26psi, the ride is OK yet the sidewall flex is very little so they handle real well. They are a bit bumpy and a little harsh over rough roads, but on the other hand they feel more stable at speed. So it's a pretty good trade off.
I ran some paint across the tread and drove it carefully until it started to wear. 26PSI seems to wear evenly across the tread.
Earlier I was debating getting them for the front or if I should stick with the 275 Nitto 555RII for max braking, but I'm so impressed I think I will get the GSD3 for the front, also.

I still think the GSD3 will be just as good up front. Even if you lose a few feet in braking (which you may not) the extra life and deeper tread should be worth it.
Consider that both the Nitto drag radial and autocross tires come shaved to 6/32 and wears quicker. While the GSD3 starts out with 10/32 tread. The extra tread makes it last about twice as long right there. Also, both the 275 size tires cost about the same $200 with the Nitto being just a tad cheaper. So I think the GSD3 is the smart choice for the front.
