Default Will this snow tires fit properly?

even tho stock rims call for 245/50/16's will 225/55/16's fit right on my 16" stock alloys that I'm using as my winter setup? The tires are Yokohoma Snow's

Should be OK, may look a little silly being rather narrow, but that quite honestly is better for a snow tire. The overall diamter is near the same.

yup, 225/55/16 are the same overall diameter as the stock tires and fit on a stock 8" wide rim.

I actually went with a 225/60/16 which is an entire inch taller, but I put them on a set of lt1 firebird wheels and mounted them on my car and they still clear when the wheels are turned in front..they get within about 1/8 inch however

But the recomended size for snows on our cars is 225/55/16 so those will fit perfect.

I had a base Camaro with 7" wide steelies and ran the stock size tire which was a 215/60/16 tire. It made me realize why anything taller than a 50 series sucks for handling!

I'm running Michelin Pilot Alpins PA2s (225/55 16) on my stock 16x8 "spokers" . They are fine, except I'd want something narrower for real snow/ice.

Default winter tires

I just recently went with the Dunlop Winter Sport M3 225/55HR16 and got them on JUST hours before a 4 inch snow hit here last week. I was amazed at the traction i was able to obtain. No more worries! Also i should mention that these tires have incredible handling for a "winter tire". I would be willing to bet that they would perform better than a few of the "bargain" all seasons in the dry. I placed these tires on my original 16' base wheels and just swapped them out with my Boyd's 17x10's so yeah they look a little weird compared but hey..I wanna make it through winter. Just my .04(since i rambled .04)

Yeah, these are one of the better (if not the best) dry handling winter tires. Probably the only tire in that size I would currently take over it would be the Nokian WR, but it's a good deal more $$.
