Default American Racing Rebels 17 by 9 rubbing

I bought 4, AR Rebels 17 by 9s from Ebay, the seller was Wheeldiscounters.com I put the rims on the car today and they are rubbing. Below is the description of the item. I am running Hankook Ventus 275/40/17s. I am unsure of what to do? Is this normal? Any advice would be appreciated. If the offset or the backspacing is wrong, is there anything I can do to keep them from rubbing? It is only when I turn. Thanks.

You are bidding on four 17x9" brand new American Racing Chrome Rebel's part number 6997963. The bolt pattern is 5x4.75 (5x120.65). These wheels have a +25mm offset and a backspacing of 6". You want to add some serious muscle to your car, here it is! These wheels have a two year chrome warranty and a lifetime structural warranty.
It is also possible these wheels will fit other applications. Please refer to the specs we have provided.

Thanks and Happy Bidding!!!!!!

These wheels will fit the following:

Chevy Camaro, RS, and Z28 1993-2003
Pontiac Trans Am 1993-2003

25 mm offset is your problem. Not recommended. Buyt as for the rubbing, is it during a turn and hitting the black wheel well lining? If no biggie.

If it bothers you enough go with a small tire, such as a 245/45ZR17 . . .

That is the stock 17" tire size. I still have stock WS6 17" x 9.5" wheels & run 275/40/17 all the way around no problem. Better handling in the curves than a skinny tire.

Yea, its you backspacing & offset. Should have check the size fitment chart first. All you can do now is either sell them or get spacers. Good luck with it.

It just sucks that everyone that carries them advertises the wheels as being made for the camaro...when I believe only the 18x10's really fit right

i had 275 tires before and i did not notice anything when i changed to 245.

Now i have 18X10 offset 41 with 285/35 tires and 18x9 offset 25 with 245/40 tires and they are just perfekt.....

FYI Firebirds have wider fenders and quarters . . . So on a Camaro there'd be issues.
