Default Best sticky tires/where to buy

I am installing all the mods in my sig here in the next week. I also plan on a set of LS6 heads and a TRex cam so some sticky tires are a must.

What is the best affordable street legal drag radial tire to run on stock 98 Z28 chrome 5 star wheels? I don't want to have to do any fabbing up to fit them in. I just want to order them and have them put on. I'm also not looking to spend a fortune as these will only be on for the summer. I will be getting pro-stars at some point.

So, which ones should I get? Nitto, M/T, Hoosier, etc.?
What size do I need to order for it to fit without any issues?
Where is the cheapest place to buy them?

Sorry for all the questions but thats what this forum is for, right?

My vote's for the BFG DR's. That's what I'm going to after I burn my pilots up.

I second this... I just went from Nitto Drags to MT ET Street Radials. They hook a ton better than the Nittos. You will give up time they last. The Nittos you can get 12,000 miles on them if you don't go to the track very much. Expect the MT to last about 4,000 - 5,000 miles under the same conditions.

But, if you want the ultimate hooking tire without going to a true ET Street or Slick. Go with the MT ET Street Radial.

If you don't want to get into a tire with the MT short life span. Go with the Nitto Drag Radial (Not the Nitto Extreme). They hook pretty well depending of the power you have.

Good Luck!

555R can't beat it, great everday tire, just not so good in the rain, everyone is going to pass you in the rain. I always get it from discount tire direct which is a sponsor. I don't know if that is the cheapest but that is where I always get mine.

I'd say MT's. Then BFGs, and I wouldn't really bother with the Nittos with the power you should be putting to the ground.

i havent run the mt drags but i would check them out. the nittos suck, and take much more burn out to get them to hook. i've run bfg drags for 4 yrs now and they are great. first pass at the track i do a decent burn out after that i just scratch em. i have never had a traction issue on launch with my bfgs. i would suggest to get 2 more rims and not to run them on the street. when they start to wear down they will become dangerous in wet weather.

I know it's off topic but I saw your sig and you have more cars than house from the looks of it!! Where do you park them all? I have 4 and my neighbors HATE me.

Sorry I can't offer much assistance with the drag radial question.

Ok guys, this is a STREET car. It doesn't go to the track-I need traction on the street. Are BFGs and MTs my best bet? Just run a radial? How many miles can I expect to get out of them with average abuse?

Thanks guys, I just bought some barely used (still have the nubs on them!) ET Streets off a member on here for $215 shipped. I think that's a pretty good deal. Hopefully I won't have too many traction issues with the 'Rex and 4400 stall..
