im guessing its cheaper to buy a tire online and have it fitted to your car, then to go to a brick and mortor tire store, and buy a tire there.

I have bought 3 sets of tires from TireRack and 3 sets of tires from Discount Tire in the past 1.5 years. Both are excellent. But as Donohue mentioned, Discount Tire has the advantage when it comes to shipping (as long as there is a store near you). When you order tires/wheels, they can put them on their next delivery truck at no cost to you. The only time you would have to pay shipping is if you wanted them sooner.

I bought a set of wheels and tires from discounttires.net and they were great. They sent me a faultly wheel and didn't give me a hard time at all about it. They sent me a new one...and everything went smoothly. +1 for them!

I've used both but prefer Tire Rack for better selection of brands. I take them to my cousin's shop to have them mounted/balanced since it's cheaper than taking them to Discount.

I say go with discounttiredirect.com. They are a sponsor, they have free shipping, they are cheaper than their own stores, and Luke and Troy hooked it up with a 5% discount on top of that just for being on ls1tech.
The free and fast shipping, excellent service, and 5% discount is the best part. Also, they have other tires than just what is listed on their website so you may want to ask if you have a specific tire in mind.

DiscountTireDirect for sure -- Likewise if you need tire servicing, be sure to visit an America's Tire. I've had outstanding service from the many America's Tire service centers in my area.
By the way, post your tire-buying experience/feedback once you choose a place.
