19's look great but dont hook for ****, my friend's Hot Cam car will tear them apart in 1st and 2nd gear but they do look ******* sweet. I personally wont go over 18's just because my budget wont allow me to be able to replace the 19" tires, they are a lot more expensive in 19" diameter, but again, they look kick ***.

I think 19s LOOK great. But as far as performance and value, No thanks. No traction and 19" tires are mucho dinero. IF I HAD THE MONEY, I would have some 19" wheels for show, and some slightly smaller wheels for performance... But I dont

well i have some 19's and i have some very very good tires, which i cant complain about.... they hook well and cost alot too but... hell if they are good enough for the porsche gt, and lambo's and such.... fine for my baby lol
Not trying to hijack here but, was wondering if you can run 18x9.5 on sportlines (2'' drop). What do you all think?

Less Traction?? Earlier in this post a few people stated that using 19" (larger) wheels provide less traction. Can someone explain why or how? I'll guess below but correct me if I'm wrong.
This is because the need a lower profile tire, which is much firmer on the sidewall (less fles) creates less of a contact patch with the road when pressure is applied. So under acceleration or corning the down force doesn't allow the tire to squash down on the road as much, creating a bigger contact patch.
I personally know they offer less feedback before breaking loose. I ran 20"s with 25 series Michelin Pilot Sports on my BMW 850 and it was like riding on ice at times. Went back to the 18" with 35 and everything was fine with the Pilot Sports.
The effect of what a racing slick does at launch (compress on the road) happens less with the lower the profile of the tire I'm sure. I imagine that's why racing slick have so much sidewall.
On another note. I run 285/40/18 and the sidewall is rounded off more dramtically then on the 275/40/18 Pilot Sport. Michelin stated "At a certain point (size) on certain model larger tires they will "roll" the outer edge more to compensate for loss of cornering abilities. I don't like that look and will switch back to the 275's. Someone wants these they are up for sale I guess.

Bottom line, 19s would probably be great for handling. Stock would be great for drag racing. (or a tire with a big sidewalll)
