Default Help!! 18" or 17'' chrome TT's 2

hi, I have a 2001 SOM camaro SS. I plan on buying rims A.S.A.P. I dont know if I should go w/ 17'' or the 18''. I plan on going 275 on the front and 315 in the back. I am also going to lower the car a bit. do I have to run low profile tire in the rear? or normal tires will be fine

18's

As I said, the 18's only come in size 18x8 and 18x10 which is what I have.

I agree that 18's look good and fill the wheel well a little better but wouldn't they add a bunch of weight and hinder performance/traction?

Believe the fronts are somewhere right around +19mm, and rears are +40mm. The fronts have the maximum backspacing so they wouldn't stick out.

The sidewall difference between the 17 & 18 can't way different so they would simply just add more weight. I didn't buy these wheels to go to the track and run and since its not a full race car...I can let a little performance go for some damn good looks.

I like the 17s better. More sidewall = better traction. There's also a much wider diversity of tire selection. They'll will also allow you to lower it down more.

I don't like how 18s look with stock brakes. It makes them look too small and inadequate.

18's make the car look like it could go offroading. 17's in my opinion. That way you can get the 11" rim for the rear and the 9.5" for the front. And yes,,, tire selection is much better.

BlackbirdWs6, are those Mecham 7.5" tips? They look nice! I also like the stance, what kind of drop is that?

They are the 7.5" ovals from Mecham. I would not recommend getting them because the chrome plating is hit or miss. I had a set before these that bubbled and the chrome flaked off. These are the replacements from Mecham and so far so good. If they do have the same issue, I'm going with something else. I actually have no drop on the car lol (lovely stock sag from age). The rear is a bit lower because I have maybe 50+lbs of stereo equip. in the trunk.

How much did those 18" TT2s run you? Were they custom made to your offset/backspacing specs?
