Default Small nail puncture on BFG drag radials-What to do!!!

Well I just found out that I have a small nail stuck in one of my 315-35-17 dr's..........its a very tiny nail as thin as a needle.

Can this be fixed at a tire shop?.....I dont want to get rid of the tire since theres plenty of thread, what are my options?

Patch from inside with a plug that is part of the patch and projects from the inside to the tread. ( Like ALL tire repairs are supposed to be done...)

On a radial you shouldn't have trouble with this.

However... if your talking a drag tire for a 150 mph trap car... you make the call. Life is worth more than tires.

But seriously, a patch from the inside should be perfectly safe in any but all-out situations.

This advice is worth exactly what you paid for it, and carries NO liability!

good thing that carries no liability because its only partially correct. that is totally patchable like u said from the inside with no issues however u do not want to use a patch that has the plug attached to it. they can fail just as easily as a plug. u want to use a seperate patch and seperate insert (some call it a plug but its just a rubber insert) combination. that will be the safest way. especially on a drag radial where u will be spinning it and the plug will be flexing. fwiw i have a patch in one of my bfg's kd's and they will retain their speed rating if done correctly. the bfg drag radial does not carry a speed rating so no worries. its not stable at sustained speeds of 168+ mph anyways

My first set of BFG drag radials probably had five patches in them when I finally wore them out. Don't sweat it. Just get an inside patch and you will be fine.

Just like everyone else said...patch it up and you'll be fine. Any reputable tire shop can do it for you. Just tell them what you have planned with the tire (track use/street use) and they might have diffent options for you on how to repair it. Eitherway, you'll be good to go if done properly.
