Default Firestone Wide Ovals

Anyone running the wide ovals on your f-body? I want new tires and I'm looking to get these. I had Bridgestone RE730's and Firehawk SZ50s in the past and loved them both so I figured I stay with the company.

I've heard these tires run narrow so I was thinking of getting 285/40/17 if that's the case.

Thanks bird man. I've heard good things about these tires. I've just noticed they look narrow compared to other 275 tires. I think I'm going to try the 285/40's and see how they look.

The Bridgestone/Firestone/Fuzion tires do run a tad narrower than a lot of the other comparable tires, however their OD is about the same as all the others. You may want to keep that in mind.

True.
But generally NO more narrow than Nitto DRs/R2s/NT-01s, and they still appear to be wider than the same size SZ50s, despite being from the same company.

I'd have to say that I agree with you. Although I'm not familiar with the Nitto tires, I do remember that the Flintstone SZ50s were VERY narrow for their size.

I know that a LOT of Corvette owners liked the SZ50 run-flats, but commented on how funny they looked on their cars, due to the lack of width. Strictly because of that, I bought Michelins, when my 'Vette needed tires, although the 'Stones were less expensive and got very good performance reviews.

Yes, they were excellent tires (I had a set on my T-Bird SC).

But yes, they actually looked like the next size narrower tires from any other company (as the Nittos do in some cases).
