Yup, as you may know by now.

RIP Greg Weld.

He has passed away.

I have no answers on if this will delay the wheels or not. I don't want to see any complaints about them getting delayed because of this.

update from Mike at Greg Weld Design

the only wheels that are being redesigned are the 15x8 5.5BS, 15x10 with 6.5BS, and later exact fitment for the 15x10 with 7.5BS.

the 15x8 with 5.5 BS should be out by the end of the month.

i have a 9inch that is narrowed 2inch on each side. need a 5 inch BS wheel, they will not redesign these wheels. wish they would have told me that 2 months ago

Are the re-designed ones going to have a new part number? How are we going to know we are getting the new style, as opposed to all the ones that were returned (including my set) that were purchased?

No, I think the question still standing is......will these actually fit? We have been promised several times before, and still no luck. I went ahead and bought Summit Stars for the rear. IF these come out and IF they truly fit, I will sell my Summits and buy GWs.

dlove:

I know there is alot goin on and i hope things are going well for the Greg Weld heirs, but I was wondering if YOU have heard anything as you have been the one that has been offering up a LS1 f-body for them to test their new designs on? I would be inclined to believe what you woulld have to say before a call to a sales rep.

Thanks again,
2kbluws6

R.I.P. Greg Weld and best wishes to the family and friends

Just called them. With the current situation they are in, they are checking over there plan and making sure they have everything to move forward.

The needed revisons have been sent in for the wheel. The production wheel is expected in 30-45 days.

They will have the same part number, but a UPC code will now be placed on the box. Most places should be out of stock on the old wheels by the time these come in.

If you get a old style or already have an old style wheel, please contact Greg Weld Design and let them know the situation. They will take care of you. If you already have an old style wait till the new ones are out before contacting them.

Any other questions or comments, let me know.

I still have the old version that summit sent me, should i send them back now and just re-order when the new ones come out? Or should I wait any try to do an exchange? If i do an echange, would it be with summit, or greg weld directly?

hmm. I think the easiest way would be to send yours back to summit now and get a rufund and then reorder when new ones come out.

Thank you dlove. i can agree with what you said. I know i have called with greg weld before a while back and did ask them if they would fit...like when i first saw them in summit. and it was definately hard to get ahold of them. when i did get ahold of them he was telling me they fit some f-bodys and not others, so he told me to measure my brakes...center of hub to outmost part of my caliper/bracket. i never got around to it and then i found some postings here on the site and am glad that i didnt order them on a whim. But it is definately nice to have a ls1 braked car there to test fit them on.

Do you know if they will have another test fit with the new design before they go into production? or are they going to just run the production off of the "adjusted" prototype?

Thanks Again.
Tim
