NITTO 555R Questions....
1. Should I run em with the stock rear end? ... I don't launch @ 5k RPM.... I'm more of a 1.5k -2k RPM launch kind of guy.
2. Can you just do the back tires since my crappy Ventus tires are practically brand new... should I keep those up front and get NITTOS on the rear?
3. What is the speed rating? I keep getting different info. Some sites list 149mph and some list 168mph... what's the deal???

but i live my life a quarter-mile a time....

thanks for the responses... what is the basic difference between the different Nitto models?
i don't expect over 10k miles of durability... now i have read reports of guys running 30k miles on them... seems a little far fetched for drag radials, but it could happen i suppose.

What I meant was if you want a street/strip tire that will mostly see the track but will still be driven on the street then the BFG, no doubt. MT's streets are more a track tire not too street friendly and probaly woundn't run in the rain. 555r's I'd even use when almost bald in the rain.
Depends on what kind of tires you want, if you'r looking for Nittos or BFG's try America tire co/ Discount tires that's where I got my set of Nitto's. But you can probaly shop around online. What size and type are you looking for?
the speed rating only matters if you run above the rated speed for a long period of time, Ive taken mine to 160+mph
The problem for the drag radials is not wet pavement (as long as they have some tread) the problem is standing water. I am Extremely careful when driving in the rain. Any bend in the road I will slow down for, if your careful they are ok DD in the rain. If you drive hard in the rain then these are not for you.
If I lived in Arizona or something it would be a no brainer.
So in reference to my previous question, are the 555's a street strip or just street? Im assuming the 555r's are a drag radial that can be legally street driven, and honestly I dont think I need that. If the 555's hook well then I think Ill just end up with them. I mean look at my sig Im not making really huge numbers, and Im not going to go to the track alot. If the 555's will hook well enough for the occasional light-to-light jaunt then they are good enough for me.
Or am I just all jacked up here?

555's are a regular street tire, not a street strip, just a plain street tire. Every company I'm sure is going to hype that they're performance tire's, but they're just regular street tires.
555R's is a drag radial, street-strip tire, this is the a drag radial that is really street friendly and last a good amount of miles. DR's have a lower tire life rating than regualr tires since they have a softer compound, but out of all DR's I think they live the most.
You'll definitley get wheel spin with that much power using 555's in the rear, shtt I'd light up my 555'Rs with just a catback and lid.lol
You best bet would be to get 555's for the front and 555R's for the rear. The rears will obvioulsy wear out faster than the front's. I got 10k miles out my 555R's with many street and strip burnouts and plenty of street and track passes.
