Default Rear well sub box (new pics on page 3)

Well i got a setup with 2 12" Kicker CVR's and 800w amp in a ported box, but the problem is the box i have was too deep to put in the well, so now i have no back seat for the time being. The box is fairly big but sounds real nice. Now my question is, how does the rear well sub box perform? And aren't they all sealed as well? (from what I've seen) I don't want to lose a lot of air space by switching over though.

Be more specific. Are you asking about the "steath" style boxes or t-top area box?

If its about the stealth box, then in my opinon it sounds good, wit just one sub,but if you put two stealth boxes it would sound fantastic..but the ttop box would sound good too..there pretty close,in my opinion...

Sorry i meant the ttop well box that holds two 12's, not the stealth.

T-top box will sound 10000X better, and be much louder. Stealth boxes in all reality are only good for needing to carry groceries. From an audio standpoint, you do not get the full potential of ANYTHING in one. But you can get the ttop boxes ported and sealed. If you want TREMENDOUS lows and more "boom", I would go with 1 12" with a port tuned to about 32 or 33 hz. If you want something that punches you in the chest and is louder at around 45 hz, then do 2 12's sealed. Either way, it will sound amazing. Im sure subthump can port and tune a box for you if you go that route, or I can biuld you one.

See I'm not experienced with building boxes to spec or anything. And with the current setup it hits hard just takes up almost the whole backseat area. I think the Kicker CVR's and 800rms a piece? I could be wrong, but i know they're underpowered with my 800w amp pushing both 12's, yet they still hit good. The subthump boxes are about $300 and i'd rather go w/o a backseat for the time being. The stealth box isn't an option for me ha.

If you build the box and calculate the area, I will tell you how to make your port. It would be worth it. Go get a sheet of MDF for $25, some wood screws, and liquid nails or calk and build it yourself. Hell I can even give you demensions. Or you can buy the old ported box I have for 75 bucks + shipping. It fits perfect and will SLAM. And I can port it to whatever you desire. Btw, having that box in the seat area is a HORRIBLE place.

well the question is what subs are you running and what are the air specs.... I took a big cut from going with a 3.5cu/ft per side ported box in my old G-body, to the T-top box that has 1.1cu/ft and is sealed. My subs call for somthing like 1.0-6.0cu/ft...I added a fair amount of polyfill to the box (still need a bit more) and it sounds great and slams hard. Not as hard as I would like tho but I feel as if my stock headunit is holding me way back so im sure it will sound much better with a new headunit in my case. But none the less im happy with the box, just need to paint my dam subs some sort of flat color as the factory finish reflects on my tint. gay

Texas. This was my first box that I built. I got the most possible area without having to fiberglass a custom one. It fits PERFECT. The Solo in the middle is taken out and replaced with a square port. Isn't eye candy, but sound great.

What about the edge to the left sticking out, doesn't seem like it'd fit in the well with it. And thats a pretty big port if you take out that kicker. Shipping would probably cost a lot since your in TX too, but im not sure since i barely ship stuff. I saw some on ebay that were for the well but i dont know the quality of those.

When you put the box in, you have to angle the passenger side in first. (I did this for more air space) And the port is 6" x 6". Its not that big because the port is mounted on a baffle. And almost everything on ebay is very cheap for our cars. I really think you should have one made or make one yourself.

Here is the setup I had before my car was broken into... The sub box fits in perfectly in the t-top well, made out of HDF. I had one of my friends that does custom audio systems build and install everything for me. Sounded incredible for just two 10's.

Looks like you had to take the two back hatch pieces out? And how close is it to the hatch when its closed? (looking at the pics with two 12's)

Yeah I did, but its the only way to get adequate box room for 2 ported. The corners BARELY touch on each end. The hatch opens and closes normal.

Does it rattle a lot since its hitting the hatch and not bouncing off the glass?
