A quick way to tell if your speakers are blown is to take your finger and VERY gently push into the cone. I don't mean to push on the center but rather push on the concave portion before the center cap. If you feel or hear a grinding, scratching, gritty sound/feeling then your speakers are blown. Push down several times and let the speaker recoil back to it's original position and repeat until you have figured out if it is blown. I have probably blown more speakers than you would like to know and I always used this method to make 100% sure. Omarrakeen may be right as well, if you have a wire contacting the body you will get a horrible crackling sound which will eventually ruin the speaker.
