Default What speakers for 01' Camaro v6 doors

I read the sticky and still couldnt find my answer I'm sorry for reposting but this whole deal is a hassle and I need someone to talk this out to me.

My buddy has a 2001 camaro v6 model car and we went to replace the door speakers today with some rocksford fosgate 6.5 component speakers. We found out these didnt work because one they are 4 ohm and he had 4 wires coming out of the door. Only two prongs were on the speaker. My question what the hell is a replacement for this type of speaker?

Will the speaker I need to get have 4 connecters on the speaker or only two?

Someone point me to some actual replacement options because this was a damn hassle.

Thanks in advance

Jesus Christ! Its SOO simple. Read the damn sticky and you would know one pair of wires are for the woofer, and the other are for the tweeter. Take the pair for the woofer, wire to the RF Component woofer, take the pair for the tweeter, wire to the RF tweeter and install where you like. I really don't see why people make it seem like its so damn difficult. Sorry, but this has been cover SO much its not funny.

Are you looking for a simple stock replacement, or an upgrade?

Sorry, but I fail to see how 4 wires is confusing. Not to mention ALL the info is right here on Tech. Oh, and if your gonna call someone names, at least have the smarts to spell it right. Its "douche."

You said component, but I bet that you meant coaxle.
There are 2 different types of speakers: coaxle & component.

Coaxle speakers will have the tweeter mounted in the center.
The tweeter is wired together with the woofer so there is only
on set of speaker connections.

Component speakers consist of seperate tweeters, woofers, &
external crossovers. The woofer & tweeter connect to the crossover
& the crossover wires into the amp.

The camaro speakers look like coaxles because the tweeter is mounted
in the middle. But they are actually component speakers. That's why
there are 4 different wires. 2 are for the tweeters & 2 are for the woofers.

Your best bet is to get rid of the coaxles & get a good set of components.
The monsoon amp already sends the highs to the tweeters & the lows to
the woofers. So there is no need to use the external crossovers.

I just installed a set of MB Quart components in my camaro & they
sound really good. Good luck, I hope this helps.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I purchased a set of rocksford fosgate components and in the stickie it specifically states 4ohm speakers will cut my power in half. The rocksfords i got were 4ohm so am i screwed? The rocksford fosgates are supposedly 3way system component speakers...

The stock tweeters are run at 4 ohm & the stock woofers are run
at 2 ohm. Installing 4 ohm woofers will cut your power in half.
But the volume decrease isn't really that noticeable. I did have
to turn my treble down a little though because my tweeters were
playing a little louder than the woofers.
Sounds like you have triaxles speakers. Some people will advertise
their coaxle & triaxle speakers as component speakers. It can get
confusing.

I'm guessing that you have speakers like this:
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...n_US&p_status=

What I would suggest is speakers like this:
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...n_US&p_status=

Another option that you might consider, I've heard that you can take
a coaxle speaker & seperate the tweeter wires from the woofer & wire
the tweeter seperately from the woofer. But this takes modifying the
speaker, so I never really wanted to do that.

HHAAa so i was right lol cuz component speakers are 2 seperate speakers linked to a crossover correct? and wiring that would be easier then spilciing and dicing the factory one if u get coaxial's correct?

Yeah that's right. What you do if you have coaxle speakers you have
to disconnect the tweeter from the woofer & wire it seperately to the
monsoon amp. You are essentially creating a set of components.
Essentually what you're doing is bypassing the speakers built-in crossover.

It can get confusing though because some manufacturers call
coaxles & triaxle speakers component speakers. A better term
would probably be component system.

Coaxial speakers have the speaker elements on the same axis (in line with each other). I have no idea what coaxle speakers are... speakers that share the same axle?
