Is there something that we could wire inline to have it run or seem like it is an 2 ohm speeker?

I know somebody out there has the knowledge to do it.

I don't think that this would work since speakers are not a fixed impedance like a resistor. Their impedance changes with applied frequency, and every speaker is different.

First off thanks for all the info on this topic. I installed a set of Infinity Reference 6002si speakers in my 2000 z28 last night and they sound great. Much better than stock & only 80.00 for the pair.

i just took mine out of my car. i upgraded to something else with an aftermarket amp, so i'll sell mine, already pre-wired. $90 shipped sounds reasonable, considering they are $100 brand new, and i'm sure the trouble of wiring costs at least $10 anyway.

Can someone hypothesize what the results would be if I changed the HU to an Alpine 9833, replaced the stock coaxials w/ the Alpine SPS-170A's, wired the tweeter section to the deck and wired the subs to the monsoon amp? Would the high's be super loud and the subs be really subdued?

I know that everyone says that the Alpine S-170A's fit and work great, but I also found some KENWOOD KFC-1679ie's and PIONEER TS-A1671R's. Just wondering if anybody had an opinion on the kenwoods and pioneers and if they would fit. Thanks.

I killed my Alpine S-170A's. No, I don't blast the speakers. One is just screwed up and completely garbles.

yes, i have an opinion. the monsoon amp is a piece of junk. if you want clean sound and want to run the monsoon, it's not going to happen. the big plus about the alpines is their oversized cone (6.75") which allows it to fit perfectly into our door baffles. any equivalent speaker will sound the exact same if it's being powered by the monsoon.

your wires may have crossed or your positive may have touched some metal and grounded itself. a few things could have happened, but i doubt your monsoon amp blew the speaker.

good lord that's complicated. if you want to rewire like a crazed man, just replace your deck, your speakers, and your amp with something worth going to all that trouble for.
