Default Finally put my system in!

Well I finally installed the stereo stuff I had laying around! Nothing too fancy, just an oldschool Rockford Punch 12" and a Kenwood KAC-X521 amp, Clarion head unit, front and mids.

I'm just happy with how the custom stealth box turned out, and how the amp mounted. It sounds good.

What do you guys think?

Install looks good man. Where did you get the box? can you fit speakers in both sides or do you have to take the spare out of the passenger side? Did you upgrade any of the other speakers. What does the head unit look like? I got a 02 Z28 and im looking to do about the same thing any advice would help.

i don't think you can put a sub on the other side. the boxes can be bought and are for people who don't want to give up their t-top space. it looks good.

I'm only running one sub on the driver's side. You can't fit another on the passenger side unless you remove the spare. KEEAUDIO sells enclosures like the one I have, but mine was made at home. The head unit is a discontinued Clarion, and I replaced the door speakers and mid speakers with clarion's as well. The rear speakers are still stock

Advice I'd have to offer is.. when you're running the power cable for your amp, there should be a grommet that is under the passenger side dash that runs to your PCM, I ran mine through that, and then all the other wires I tucked in the side molding along the floor. It really wasn't that hard to do, and it was my first stereo install in a 4th gen.

For a sub on the right, you gotta ditch the spare.

In my 97 I had a 10" Alpine Type R in an MTX stealth enclosure box. The amp was mounted under the carpet of the passenger front floorboard. It was kinda ghetto because it took away leg room over there, but I didn't want to have the amp visible at all. I'm waiting to buy an amp rack for the car now so I dont have to do that, and still not have it visible..

This is the amp rack I'll be getting some Kee Audio

lol, that is ghetto. To the OP, can the amp not fit in the spare tire area?

In an accident or maybe even at hard stops(overtime), the velcro will become loose. The amp easily becomes a projectile.

Use Heavy Duty Industrial Strength Velcro. Had it in for 3 years with no problem.

Kinda reviving an old thread but, I took out the child-safety hooks and used those same bolts to hold down a piece of wood which I secured the amp to. You can hardly tell with the carpet covering it up, right? I don't know how I'd feel about using Velcro though

Why not make a rack in the spare tire area so it looks clean. That looks alright but the box carpet has gotta go.
