Default 5 speaker Bose system issues???

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...ls1-audio.html

I posted some questions in this thread^^^ but haven't heard anything back and was hoping somebody over here could help me out.

Basically, something blew in the my 5 speaker Bose stereo system and instead of highs/mids/vocals playing out of the 4 front speakers (2 in the door and the 2 by the rear seats) and bass playing out of the stock sub in the trunk, now the rear seat speakers are completely inoperative and only have highs/mids/vocals playing out of the two front speakers and the trunk speaker.

I assume it is probably related to a central unit, such as the radio itself or the trunk amp speaker unit. Any suggestions or similar problems you were able to fix are greatly appreciated.

-Thanks

i would suspect the bose amp is screwed up if you now have music comin out of the sub, if sub is still working as intended then maybe you got 2 blown speakers

I forgot what I did to test it a while back to confirm this, but I am pretty sure the rear speakers are fine. The sub is now playing vocals/highs instead of only bass like it is supposed to. The speaker itself works, it just isn't functioning as a subwoofer as intended. Could it be that the sub unit that contains the amplifier in the trunk is faulty? Is that the main amp for the entire system?

Now if the rear seat speakers are blown, would that cause the rear sub to convert to a regular speaker? Has anyone ever disconnected or had a problem with the rear seat speakers and had the sub start playing vocals?

sounds to me like this would be a problem with the amp, the high pass filter that usually removes any voices and higher frequencies from the sub is no longer working along with the rear channel in the amp, possibly a short is something in the amplifier??? Would definately look at changing out that amp first. Wouldnt think its 2 blown speakers, usually a blown speaker will still make some noise but it will be very distorted.

That makes sense. I have never heard a speaker blow and then just do nothing like you said. Now is the amp contained in the box unit for the rear sub? If that is the case, then I may just replace the unit as a whole (which I can do for fairly cheap it appears, and is something I can actually afford). Is this what you are talking about?? I am going to try and find something cheaper but need to know if this it??

Also, do you know if the rear sub and the front speakers are essentially the same part and interchangeable (as I may hold onto it in-case I have a problem with one of the front speakers in the future.

Thanks for the input. Cleared up some stuff for me. I have heard things here and there but needed a base to start at to get me going.

Is there a difference between the 5-speaker and 3-speaker Bose trunk amp unit>?
