Default HID's for Camaro

Ok guys lets start out by saying I have no idea where to begin or what to look for. I just purchased a new set of headlights as mine were pretty foggy. I would like some HID's to put in the housings of the headlights and fogs. I am looking for something that is a nice white with good cutoff as I do not want anything that is going to be illegal or blind other motorists. Let me know what to look for. Thanks.

Here's mine I belive they are 8000K's. They are bright enough I don't need my brights anymore. Got the kit from ddmtuning.com just google them. You'll need to. Find the bulb and everything to order the right kit. On the plugs though you need to flip one bacwards for them to work.

It is not possible to install HID capsules in halogen reflector headlights and achieve the proper cutoff or eliminate glare and light scatter. The halogen headlights you just got for your Camaro have optics that are designed to work with a light source of a certain shape and in a certain position. Halogen bulbs produce an oval light source that is perpendicular to the bulb axis. HID capsule produce an arc that is curved (it rises because of its own heat) and in line with the axis of the capsule. This puts the light source as much as 2cm (almost 3/4") out of position. 2cm may not seem like much but think about how out of focus a camera lens becomes when you change the focus by as little as 2cm. The result is glare and light scatter.

Here is what a proper HID pattern looks like:

Here is what an HID "upgrade" in halogen reflector housing looks like:

The point is not whether they look fine to you... it's whether they are fine for other drivers. Those two spikes of bright light above the horizontal cutoff line in the "upgrade" photo and the general scatter of light can be blinding for other drivers.

Yep do HIDs in a projector housing. In factory housing it looks like crap.

WhiteBird00, from what I read, you're suggesting projectors them? I'm fine with that, but I DETEST Halo's, as well as the LED's that are built into the bottoms now like the Audi type.

I thought I read a while back that the projector type we can buy for the camaro's are STILL made of plastic...? Is there a proper, glass projector headlight out on the market for us Camaro guys?

I 100% agree though. I get blinded all the time by ****** in trucks that upgrade to HID's in a stock housing. It seriously almost took me off the road a few times.

Check out the https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...hting-faq.html. VIP1 has put together a great list of links with information about HIDs and projector lamps.

Not trying to call anyone or anything. But bright lights in trucks or whatever don't really bother me. Your only by them for a few seconds.
