Quality Budget Sound Deadening
#62
Im debating getting some MLV and doing up the whole floor/transmission tunnel right now - I got almost 0 vibrations but I hear a lot of road noise coming from the center console (I do have a 6 speed swap and made the hole a little bigger too)
Does anyone have any opinions on how much it helps? I know for the whole floor it would probably add about 50-100 lbs so im debating if its worth it... hmmm

BUT road noise and wind noise is more obvious on the spots that I slacked off in - and my transmission tunnel now sounds louder as well.

With only the rear well and inner fenders done I feel like its a bit quieter from back there. I havent reinstalled the carpeting or the spare tire and jack so that will be the test.

As far as applying it, I used my fingers and firmly pressed it on. I form it into all of the contours of the surface, so fingers work perfect. If you plan to just pull it over the contours of the surface is relatively flat, a roller will probably work better if not faster.

This is KrisXpc's car, but my door looks like this:
Here is his thread for reference:

I reached in that gaping hole and laid more sound deadener on the backside of the outer skin so now when you look in that hole, you see more silver.
I found this pic of johnzss's car that show's what I'm talking about on the backside of the outer door skin:
My coverage is a little more complete, like KrisXpc's door.

I'm also considering making a panel to cover than hole and, of course, cover that panel in sound deadener as well. I think I saw it done once.
