Default best 12" sub to go with a 1000 bd rockford fosgate amp

I need some input to see what would be the best 12" sub with that amp. Currently I am running a pioneer premiere 3000 watt sub but i used to push two so i know the amp has way more potential. I am looking for just one 12" sub now that will take full potential of the amp that i think is 1200 watts rms @ 1 ohm.

I have never personally heard an alpine before but it looks perfect for what i want and the price is not to bad, thanks for the suggestion. I was looking into either a dd 3512 or a rockford fosgate p3 but will definently take the alpine into consideration now.

i was going to say a premier like you have/had, btw are you looking to get rid of those if you're not going to use them? i've seen a guy put 2,200 watts on one before and it not roast (although it didn't like it too much lol) anyways those speakers are tanks and would work great on 1200 watts (just because your amp pushed two doesn't mean its too much for one) but hey if you don't want them ill take them!

Definitely that IDMAX if you can find one for a decent price. That's what I'm looking for at the moment, but I'm not keen on paying $400. Another recommendation would be the JBL WGTi series, though I'd much rather have IDMAX.

if thats the older fosgate setup (I used to run the bd1100.1 amps) those thing put out some serious rms power.
I'd go with either a nice jl audio (whatever series there up to now)
I ran 3 mtx' 9500 10's bridged off of one amp and it sounded retarded.
but I"ve been out of the stereo game for almost 10 yrs now so god only knows whats available now

The RE SXX I listed above is less than $300, and if you shop around you should be able to find one for around $250 with free shipping.

Also, the RE SXX's EBP of 95.63 is very well suited for a ported enclosure.

EBP's around 50 make good sealed box candidates.
Around 100, go ported for sure.
In between is up to you.

EBP: Efficiency Bandwidth Product
Fs: Driver free air resonance, in Hz. This is the point at which driver impedance is maximum.
Qes: The driver's Q at resonance (Fs), due to electrical losses
EBP = Fs / Qes
The RE SXX 12" has a Fs of 30.6 Hz and the Qes is .32 for an EBP of 95.63

Another great subwoofer you might want to consider is a Fi SSD 12"

Fi SSD12 D2 12”
Fs: 30.1 Hz
Re: 1.4 Ohms/coil
Qms: 7.65
Qes: .37
Qts: .36
Mms: 248g
Cms: 0.11mm/N
Sd: 480cm^2
Vas: 36.5 l
Spl: 86.1dB 1W/1m
Bl: 18.7 N/A
Xmax: 20mm
Rms: 1000W
Sealed box: .7-1.2 cuft
Ported box: 1.8-2.5 cuft @ 33Hz
Sub OD: 12.500”
Cut ID: 11.125”
Mounting depth: 6.500”
Displacement: 0.14cuft

EBP is 81.4

I am really liking that fi ssd 12", steve meade (with the 30,000 watt escalade) has that brand and his setup is sick. Of course I won't have anything near that but it should hit pretty hard and be durable right?

All of these subs listed above are great!
But... I know for a fact that an alpine Type R will handle 1000 rms, and cave your chest in simultaneously. My brother had this setup with an MRP-1000, and It sounded better with one sub, even though the type Rs are rated for 500. A type R will typically run about 75 on craigslist.
Most of the time its how you power it, and your amp will do that very well
I would probably run that in a vented box tuned to about 32 hz, because the Voice coils will get warm and need to breathe
Good luck!

EDIT: Whoops, didnt realize this thread was this old..
