Default Whats a good, but cheap, 700-800 watt amp......

All I have is a 12" woofer in a stealth box and Matts speakers all around. Mid range in the rear seat walls, door speakers with a tweater in each door too. Factory Monsoon and factory 12 disc changer.

Not into competition, just a decent sound system.

My amp go wet and I think its screwed. It plays, but it has loud static at low volume levels and its making my woofer freak out.

Thanks.....

good and cheap is not two words that really go together

but what kind of budget are you looking to spend.
I have a bunch of options and can surely find you something in your price range.

The amp I have now that got wet has been perfect for 9 years, until it just got wet. Its a Planet Audio PA 6005. 700 watt 5 channel. It says Mosfet on it.

I remember it was seriously cheap, like a couple hundred $$ I think. All I need to do is replace it, I don't care about price. But as I said, I just need something just like this one, nothing crazy.

edit: one thing though, that this one has done a few times. When I'm on a long drive and really cranking it for a long time....it has gotten hot and shut down. It felt hot. After it cooled for a little bit it would come back on. If I just crank it pretty good, but not big time, it would never get hot and turn off. Maybe one that won't do that would be nice.......

(funny, I thought it was a 1,000 watt until I just looked after 9 years.....lol)

i have had my Eclipse XA5000 for the past 4 years, mounted in the spare tire hole and haven't had a single issue. We kinda have the same setup just different gear. Alpine headunit, BA PRO60 in front and back and a BA 10" sub in stealth box. sounds amazing.

Before this i had a US Acoustics amp powering a smaller system, had it for around 5 or so years.

He needs a 5-channel amp. I believe this one you linked is a mono amp for subs.

Man, I didn't realize how cheap amps were......just out of curiosity, whats the top of the line amp in the 700 watt range.
4 x 100
1 x 300

****and I assume I'm running my current system 4ohm.....???

Also.....what would be the #1 component that dictates how clear the sound will be....speakers, amp, wires, head unit.

I know total sound when getting into competition is like building an engine, it all has to match and be good ****.....but what is the weak point in my system.
My Monsoon HU....?

2 is half of 4. 2 is also 2 less than 4 since you technically asked about the difference.

The load presented to your amp depends on your speakers...are they 2 or 4 ohm?
