Default HELP...Bose replacement questions

I have a 95 Z28 with a bose system in it. The cd player has stopped working. I dont care for aftermarket head units because I hate the non stock look. My questions is what are my options for replacement? Do I need to find a bose from a similar year camaro or will the monsoon's from later years work/fit or what about head units from other GM vehicles? Basically I want a working cd player with a "stock" look. I may even be interested in getting mine repaired if anyone has had any luck with that. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Best bet is ebay or junkyard. Might be able to find somebody that can fix it. What happened with it? Just stopped working completely?

The Bose system used a unique head unit and amp/speaker setup. The head unit produced low-level, high-impedance output to either three or five speakers (depending on model) that had individual amps attached. I had a quick look on ebay and was surprised by the ridiculous prices some sellers are asking. Worse than that, some sellers who call themselves "experts" have completely wrong application listings (the Bose system was never used in 98+ f-bodies).

You can install a Monsoon head unit with the appropriate adapter. It's not an ideal solution but it will work and it will look factory installed. The Monsoon HU is nothing special - it's just an ordinary Delco HU with an extra sticker on the face. It produces only speaker-level output so it won't work with the rest of the Bose system without an adapter like the PAC OEM1.

One advantage to using the Monsoon HU is that you can add an adapter like the GM9-AUX to the CD changer port so that you can plug in an MP3 player.

It's been a (very) long time since I messed with my 95 Z28 Bose but I seem to remember that the mounting brackets were removable from the HU chassis (i.e. they bolted to it rather than being part of the chassis). I would think that the brackets could be transferred to another HU - perhaps with a little modification.

Yeah Ive been doing some reading and searching around. Most of the bose units ive find for sale are pricey as you mentioned. Im not dead set on having to have a bose unit. I just prefer the "stock" look. I may go with a monsoon setup for the look and get an adapter for an mp3 as mentioned. Thats seems like an upside to getting a monsoon unit. Thanks for your help and the part numbers for the adapters. I appreciate the help
