Subs for double bass
I'd look into 8w3's but just 1 of them wont hit very hard...maybe do a single 10w3
I'd go sealed if you want the sub to be as punchy as possible

as far as being "budget friendly", dont let the price of jl point you away. jump on craigslist. i paid $75 for the 10w3v3 im using right now when i got it. its going in the wife's car when im ready to redo my camaro. im waiting till i can do everything at once so right now im using that in the old model ho box (upside down so the box fits in my hatch area) running off a 500/1.
no intention of being demeaning, but you have absolutely no idea what your talking about if you think 2 different size subs in the same system would even sound good. show me even 1 picture of a system that has a sub setup with 2 different size cones and I'LL SEND YOU A 12W7 AND HD1200/1 ON THE HOUSE. (RULES: no 8" midbass driver counts as a sub, hence midbass) I can't stand when people put up bad info when they have no idea what they're saying
if you've got the cash for a pair of 10w3's, put them in a sealed box on 1000w rms and you'll have an awesome sub system, especially for what you want.
If that's too rich for your blood do a pair of 8w3's, don't be thrown by the 8" cone size, a pair of them will still hit and be even tighter than the 10s...3 8's would be really cool if you've got the room
as for amps, if you do the 2x 10s or 3x 8s options are the Alpine MRP-M1000 or MRX-M100, the MRX replaced the MRP 2 years ago but alpine still made the MRP because it was cheaper, but now the MRX-M100 was replaced by the MRX-M120 for the same price and should ship this month. the M100 should be on clearance right now.
do not pay retail prices any good dealer will cut you a nice deal if you get the subs and amp from them!
