Default Subwoofers

I want to add a good tight sounding subwoofer to my car, I just cant find a subwoofer that can keep up with death metal. Any suggestions, Im not really on a budget so just throw it out there.

w12gti in a sealed enclosure. they take up some space, so if you're tight on space, forget it. i have 2 15's in my car, and they're tight, accurate, and sound good.

i wouldnt go with a 15 for a tight hitting sub. check this thread out, similar sub request to yours https://ls1tech.com/forums/stereo-el...uble-bass.html

the jl w3 and w6, the polk sr series are all good subs for what you need. i cant comment on the idq but ive heard very good things about it.
as for size i would look at 10's. 1 or 2 depending on budget and how much bass you actually want.
i really like the sr (signature reference) myself. polk just ended the series so you can get the single 4ohm for $159 at onlinecarstereo. 2 of those in a sealed box and a good amp would be great

I have the kicker cvt10 in the space where the original bose would go, it kicks nice to about everything. Defintely looks great where its at and sounds great for what it is. Powered by a kicker 750 amp.

Your going to want a sealed box for sure no doubt. The type r suggestion won't work because they only sound great in ported when they can really move. Ive heard the IDQ and it's a nice sub. Another guy made a post about the same thing, he ended up doing a pair of JL 10w3's IIRC which was a great choice. If youve got more budget, or can live with a single sub. I'd do a JL 10w6 or even an 8w7 which would be kick ***. The w7 is just about the tightest woofer around. The Hertz ML2500 is a fantastic, yet pricey, option as well. if you want to go super budget the JL W0v3 is real hard to beat for the price.

I really like an 8" woofer though, and it'd be perfect for the double bass

Sundown sa-8v2. Just came out, don't need much room, get loud, tight, can take a beating.

Yes they can take a beating and get real loud but only in a ported box plus there not made to be in a sealed box which is what he needs for his type of music he listens to. To the OP if you want a loud small sub the sa8 gets down and they only call for .60 ported and that's what I'm going to run as soon as they get back in stock. Oh also you can get them for less then 200 bucks which is a steal just check them out on you tube.

The best sub with a mediocre amp will sound good, but the amp is the other half of the equation, also. Great sub and a quality amp will sound amazing.

I run a pair of 10w7's and they freakin slam and hit so tight its awesome. best subs I've ever had I really love them. they arent discontinued, but replaced by the Anniversary Edition. the new ones are exactly the same besides cosmetic changes (black frame, polished trim ring) and if your looking for the 10 its called the 10w7AE, i saw another member who had a pair of 10w7's in the subthump t-top box looked sweet and the specs were dead on

yes and no. for a sub most any amp will do the job and well if its got the power. but the power has to be there, a promise and a smile about its ratings aren't good enough. but take JL for example if they made a JX amp in the same wattage as an HD amp they would sound minimally different. the only problem with a bargain basement sub amp is reliability and longevity. I like the Alpine MRX amps as entry level. do an MRX-M1000 on each 10w7 and you'll be bumpin.

^ THIS, type r's have a great db rating, def a great all around sub if your listening to mostly heavy metal 10's would be prefect
