Default Who makes a good 1.5 din radio

I was thinking about getting a new radio for my Camaro. I know my car is a 1.5 din. I was wondering is it Worth upgrading the radio to an aftermarket unit. If so what is a nice one to go with and can you still use the steering controls

No one makes 1.5 dins any longer. The 1.5 size was mostly just used by GM and Chrysler from the late 80s to the early 00s, and never really gained any aftermarket support. If you look hard enough you may be able to turn up a used 1.5 Alpine or Pioneer unit, but they'll be 10+ years old an outdated tech-wise. I have a Pioneer 1.5 in my Silverado, and it sounds nice but lacks modern features.

It's really not hard to go to double din, I just did it in my T/A. The only real modifications required are replacing the radio bezel and cutting out the little plastic shelf the stock radio sits on.

NOBODY, the last of the 1.5's on the market where crap brands, there hasn't been a good one since pioneer discontinued the DEH-P77DH (and it's little brother the 47DH), but by today's standards that radio isn't even all that good, no bluetooth, no built-in aux input (could be added via IP-bus), no USB, No sat radio, no HD-radio, no Ipod support, just had 3 sets of 4-volt preouts and a big volume ****.

fortunately Metra (thanks to one of the sponsors) has finally added double din bezel support for both the camaro and firebirds, so you can do double din much easier and cheaper then what it took to do it just a mere 2 years ago.

Man so sad, do this is why I can't find any real good brands. I guess I might have to do the double din. Is the mod hard to do and what are the radios that look nice with the 15 year old interior, lol.

Get a single DIN with an install kit.

Kenwood KDC-X998 is a really good HU.

If you get a single-din I highly recommend the humount radio bracket. Their work takes a while but the end result is a very high quality piece!

I have the HU mount as well with a single. I like it.

I may switch next year if I sell my daily take my Kenwood out of it.
