Question A/c problem

Ok so today I get in my 02 ws6 and the air(hot or cold) won't blow out of any vent.. What do I need to do/check?? Cuz it's like 90degrees here and boiling lol.
It worked yesterday, but now and again the low fan settings would have take a while to kick in if I had it set on high at first.. Suggestions?? Just put in a touch screen and now this happened :/

a/c not blowing out of the vents is usually a vacuum leak. sounds like something came disconnected. my car would only blow out of the floor vents until i found the line that came unhooked. I recommend retracing your steps and seeing if you knocked anything lose.

Hard to tell what that is. That could just be wiring for an option your car didn't come with ( traction control or second gear switch etc.) I would start by checking vacuum lines. They are old and constantly exposed to heat. They get brittle and can break suddenly. There is a point by the ac compressor where 3 lines meet. I would start there.

I do not think it is a vacuum leak. Check the blower motor relay. Also you could pull the blower motor out and hook it up to a outside power source and see if it blows

Have you checked the HVAC fuse (20 amp fuse #6)?

The blower is working, took it out and hooked it up to a battery.. So it's not that.. Is there any possibility I knocked something loose behind my CD player?? I've checked it a hunted times but didn't see anything

Are you sure it's blowing out of none of the vents? Turn it on and see if the a/c is blowing out the floor vents.

Yup I'm sure. Not blowing out of anything.. I did see however that the black wire from the stereo are spliced together into the harness, shouldn't one be grounded?? Can that be the culprit?? I'll post a picture tomorrow cuz I don't think I can exain it rite

Not necessary. The black wire in the factory radio harness goes to ground. So if the head unit and any accessories like a steering wheel control adapter are spliced to the black wire in the harness then they already go to ground.

There is very little you could do when replacing a head unit that would cause a failure of the HVAC system. About the only thing I can think of is possibly disconnecting the plugs on the HVAC controls below the head unit opening. For example, if you unplugged the fan switch then you wouldn't get any air movement.

Okay, I got it to work!! Boo us!!
But know I. The midst of all that it will only blow threw the defrost and feet.. That's the default position I take it.. Now what?? Leak somewhere?

If it's only blowing through the defrost and feet then that IS the vacuum leak I was talking about. Common issue. Small plastic lines exposed to high levels of heat over a 15 period. They break. The valve that switches the ac from floor to the front vents is vacuum operated. If the is a leak. It won't switch.

The vacuum lines you want to find are located behind this mess on the passenger side of the engine bay.

Look behind the wire looms and you will find this plastic piece with 3 vacuum lines that run in/out of it. Trace them to your problem.
