Default Keyless/Push Button Start kits...any experience?

I currently have one in my '56 Chevy, for several years. It is by Digital Guard Dawg. Overall, I'm happy with it. I do have one issue: the driver door will pop open by itself occasionally (when parked)...so far only when a battery charger is attached.

I'm wanting to get one for my '61 build. I find that the Digital Guard Dawg is quite a bit more expensive than others out there. I found a thread in here about units, but it's several years old.

I'm considering the Gallotech unit.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with any of these types of units?

[EDIT]
Not sure if I put this in the right forum. Should I post elsewhere?

I purchased the Advanced Keys products that has the push button start, auto door unlocks, and auto window close. There are a couple threads here about push button starts, one that specifically references the Advanced Keys system. Even though many here do not like having a push button start for our cars, I wanted to add some modern touches to my Trans Am build (heated seats, rear view mirror with compass/temp/map lights, express down for pass and driver windows, upgraded audio system with double-DIN 7" touch screen, electronic sensor for front bumper, full leather interior, etc).

Once I get started on the install, I will be posting a "how-to" in the Advanced Keys system. It seems to be a pretty good system with high reviews.

Advanced Keys product looks nice. That type of unit and price range seems to be common. The Digital Guard Dawg units are too expensive, although this month, their high end unit that compares to this unit is priced similar on sale.

I've read generally good reviews (those that can be found), although I am aware of one complaint: support. You cannot call and talk to anyone, even before the sale...no phone numbers. The one complainer said that when he emails it's usually 2 days before he hears back.

I'll be interested to hear how it goes for you, although I likely will have decided on what' I'll go with by then.

Thanks for the input.

How are you guys unlocking the streering column when using these systems? Are you permanently disabling it, or adding some type of solenoid to unlock?

Just curious, as the ignition key does a couple things other than just turn on the electronics.

That's an interesting question. In my case, my old cars I'm installing in don't have ign or lock in steering column.

You 'd have to shim the key or disable the ignition lock.

Remote start and keyless start are two different things. Remote start is easily available from a variety of sources. Keyless start (like recent vehicles with push button start) has a more limited selection and involves some additional questions like what to do about the steering column lock.

Many of the available remote starters are different brands from the same manufacturer... Directed Electronics produces Viper, Clifford, Python, Hornet, Autostart, Avital and a few others. Some are standalone remote starter kits and some are integrated with an alarm system.

Which company has the support problems? Advanced or Digital?

Not sure it should be called 'support problems'. The issue is, for Advanced Systems, is that you have to ask and receive support via email. No phone numbers to call. That is 'the issue' for me.

I have Digital Guard Dawg PBSII in my '56, and overall has been a decent product. The few issues I've had have been taken care of and supported, over the phone.

I just ordered this unit from them. It is on sale for 50% off through the end of this month. It does have remote start too.

Advanced keys offers systems in 3 different units
Key less entry only
Push button start only
Key less entry with push button start and remote start

Eliminating column lock is optional (although the novelty factor is obliterated if one decides to keep the column lock).
