Default 2000 trans am ws6

I have a 2000 trans am ws6 what it started doing. Is that the rpm works once in a while but when it works it works for about a couple of minutes than stops working and couple of days pass and it repeats again and stops working I've changed all sensors possible that could be linked to it and nothing still does the samething and all grounds have been cleaned and still no luck at this point I dont know what could be causing this to happen but everything else works fine but the rpm that is being stubborn if anyone can help I'd appreciate it thanks in advance

The best thing to do would be to put a scan tool on the car that gives a real-time sensor readout. Watching the RPM readings on the gauges and the OBD-II module at the same time will indicate if the issue is in the cluster or with the sensor/wiring.

I've already gone to get a diagnostic on it and the only that comes up is the cam sensor and maf but I've replaced the cam sensor already and the maf turns on cause I have my car speed dense I don't know what could be the problem

You need a different type of scanner that reads the sensors in real time, through the OBDII port; something that does more than just read trouble codes. This takes the gauge cluster out of the equation and will point to a problem with the sensor circuit or isolate the problem to the gauge.

And where can i get a scanner tool like that cause its really frustrating that I can't figure out the issue and just seeing that my rpm isn't working gets to me

Just google "OBD2 live data scanner". I think you'll find some inexpensive ones that plug in and connect to smartphones via bluetooth. This takes some research to get the best deal. Not all show all data parameters available and some charge extra for extended data sets.

The instructions should confirm if they will show you the RPM you are looking to read.

Yea cause I've connectconnected my bluetooth obd2 scanner tool and the rpm works fine there and my tuner can see the rpm aswell but on my cluster it doesn't want to show anymore

Then the sensors are good. (Otherwise the PCM would not be able to report the RPM to you through the tool.)

There have been members with problems with the gauge cluster and RPM readings. You might search and see if you can find some threads on the problem.

Do you know if you have any modifications to your gauges?

That I know of no cause when I first got the car it was working fine but I started messing with the car like putting the simple stuff like cam intake you name it and that's when it started kinda acting up but it would still work but now it just doesn't want to work and I've already changed to another working cluster and still no luck

Look for places where wires could have been moved to touch sharp things or exhaust. You may need to start tracing wires. One of the stickies here has the pin-outs for the cluster.

I've checked voltage and checked as far as I can see for pinched wires but nothing everything checks out and is there wires that consist for the rpm inside the car ?

At the top of each section on the site, you'll see a few sticky threads. In this section, there is a FAQ and one of those items is on replacing the gauge cluster. If you read that, there is a lot of information that can help you.

Then you probably have a wiring or a connector problem between the cluster and the PCM. The sticky will help you, or whoever you pay, to find the issue.
