Elemental Designs 12K.44
Find Snootch in here and ask him about this sub. Seems to be a really tough piece itself.

There is a picture on the last post. Seem to be a good SQ sub, but can hit well.
Here is Snootch's webpage.

He can answer the best since he's running 1 - 12" in his car.

(dual 4 ohm VC), and it is a great woofer, especially considering that they are their "lower" end of woofer. I have a RF punch 250.1 (rated for 500x1 @ 2 Ohms) powering it in a .7 cubic foot sealed box, and it quakes. Many people, even people with systems think upon listening to it, that I have a pair of 10"s back in the hatch. I really recommend these subs. However, ED did stop making this design of subwoofers with the flat nomex cone due to problems with their supplier. They have since came out with a new design that I hear is equally impressive. Here is a link to their site if you want to check them out: http://edesignaudio.com/category.php?type=subs
As far as the flat cone subs go, there are a few for sale on the "for sale" section of ED's forums here: http://www.icixsound.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=13 and one "A" series (best sub they made) on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18803
From back in the day when PPI made the flat piston subs, I listened to them once, and wasn't very impressed with them, as I have also heard others say as well since then. Heres a link to a discussion on carsound's forums for some extra reading: http://www.carsound.com/UBB/ultimate...c;f=1;t=022969
If your friend is really hung up on the flat cone look, I think Audiobahn
Good luck on your search!
