SOMETHING IS WRONG...THEY ARE BARLEY LOUDER THAN THE STOCK MONSOON STEREO!!!! HELP HELP HELP...I JUST PUT 300 INTO THESE COMPONETS I DONT EXPECT THEM TO BE COMPETITION WORTHY BUT I EXPECT THEM TO HIT HARD AND GO BOOM!!!! What do you masers suggest???? Try hooking into the back seat speakers. These are the woofers in our cars. The monsoon system has built in cross-overs. Very little of the bass is sent to the back speakers or the door speakers. The middle speakers are dual voice coil woofers and this is where your low frequency signal will be the strongest. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

You may have your woofers out of phase with each other. Unhook one of the woofers if it is louder than the 2 together just reverse the positive and negative wires on the woofer you unhooked and everything will be all better.

are you running a direct line from the battery for the subs, you didn;t say anything about that, if you have a kinda big amp you say you have, it should thump, what is the wiring, you have? how is it connected to your stereo? RCA's speaker wires? and you must have lots of power to run the amp, sub amp require alot of power, just tell more about your wiring, you may have it set up weird, like speakers, the two speakers could be in parrel or seris. so check that, then i could probally tell what is wrong, i'd be more than happy to help

thank you archdog!

I am using heavy gauage wire for the ground and battery. I do have the power from the amp coming from the fuse box. I found an epmty slot in the box that is on driver side by steering wheel and i have it in there. I want to say the guage is 12 or 14. It is really thick stuff and it is copper. I didnt think our stereo had preamp out puts so i am using the line in from our stock subs in the back seat i am splicing into the monsoon subs and running that to the speaker line into the amp. then everything is normal from the amp to the speakers. i am not sure what you mean about haveing the speakers setup in a parallel or series. they are setup like book recomends.

your amp should be connected directly to the battery to get the power it needs, don;t tie into the fuse box...on an f-body, you need to go through the hole where the hood latch is, and run it to the battery and connect directly to the battery, it sounds like to me, your amp is not getting enough power. i think you said, the amp is 400 by 2. what ohm is that, and what ohm is your speakers set at? most likely, the subs are 4 ohm, and the amp may say, "400 x 2 @ 2 ohm" you need to get a good power cable, depends on how big your amp is, i have a MTX amp, pushing about 275 x 2 @ 4 ohm or so, not too sure on my specs, but amp requires at least 8 guage wire and thats thick, you said 12, thats really thin. monster cable makes a great power cable, did you buy an amp kit? and where is your amp located? and for connecting to your stereo, you want to go RCA, and since you don;t have any RCA's, you will have to get a convertor, speaker wires connect up to it, and then you plug in RCA from amp to this little box you put behind your stereo, not having RCA's, you will lose the abilty to fade back and forth, i would replace the stereo and get new speakers, i did, and it sounds a hell of lot better,

no problem man

Not to flame, but if that amp does put out 400X2(which it does not), you are looking for trouble with 14ga wire. I wouldn't run any smaller than 10ga to an amplifier.
Now as far as it not coming on, have you tried to adjust the gain on the amp? The input signal will be weak and you will need to turn the sensitivity(gain) up to get the desired volume.
Since you say you are coming off of the speakers, I would also think you have no RCA's and are using the line level input. That could be bad on your amp. You can get a converter from line level to RCA output with a sensitivity adjustment on it. I think Crutchfield should have one.
Good luck
Jay

You definately need at a minimum, 8 guage wire running to your amps power and ground. Secondly, I would go to www.tunetown.com and buy the OEM-PC1 module. If you call their t/p number, their customer service people can tell you exactly what you need, their prices are reasonable and they ship their products out fairly quickly. You can plug it directly into the Monsoon system and it will provide you with 2 sets of RCA's to run whatever amp's you want. These RCA's will give you a direct stereo feed, without having been put through the crossovers. This will allow your amp to receive the proper bass signals to send to the speakers. Also, did you check to make sure you have the subs wired to the amp correctly. Check and make sure you don't have any wires crossed. Also, on your high to low level converter you may have one of your wires crossed ie..positive connected to a negative, which will defiantely make a huge difference on the sound quality of whatever your amp is pushing.

BIGRAY77:

I have the Crunch Power One P2100. (I'm at work, can't remember) I had it in my old Grand Am, and was hitting in excess of 145db. My db meter peaked at 145, and it would hit the peg and stay there. I was set up for sound quality, not volume, btw. This amp is a lot like yours, as it was 400total, 200x2. Check to see if your amp will do higher watts at lower ohmsΩ.

The Crunch P2100 is a REALLY good amp, IMHO. If you look at the specs you see it claims to do 725 watts if bridged, and run at 2 Ohms. I have a 750rms/1000max 10" Eclipse sub that I was doing this damage to my ears with... and it was sitting in a box in the trunk. No, it wasn't bandpass, or even ported. Sealed except for the top.

It took me 4 gauge wire and a 1 farad Fozgate cap to drive the amp. I ran the 4AWG from the battery (using 60amp fuses) to the cap, then 4AWG from the cap to the distribution block(in case I wanted another amp later). 4AWG for the cap ground, as well. 8AWG from the distribution block to the amp itself. 12AWG (overkill, I know) from the amp to the speaker. My speaker is a DVC, wired at 2ohms.

The amp did not hit hard at all in 2 channel mode. 200x2 just did not cut it. 725x1 @2Ω hits as hard as I could ever want. I had a 10" Rockford Fozgate RFP1210 (500rms)@ 2Ω, and I hit so hard on that speaker with that setup that I ripped the leads clean in half. The woofer threw so far out that it streched the leads to popping! The speaker isn't blown, I just need to get that side redone, but decided to get a better speaker.

I was driving this setup with an Alpine deck. Got my 2001WS6 now. Planning on getting a Stealthbox from http://www.subthump.atfreeweb.com and putting it where my changer sits, once I swap out that monsoon deck with my fauthful Alpine.

Just remember: With higher watts, you need BIG wire. I never use 14AWG fot anything that's amplified, much less the actual power wire or ground.

According to here: http://www.maxxsonics.com/crunch/con...mps_pzone.html
Your amp should do 800x1 @ 4Ω. Consider bridging your speakers to mono @ 4Ω, maybe that will help, I don't know. I dont' know how the Power One relates to the Powerzone, but if they're anything alike, it should be making you go deaf dude!

Example: I was riding through town and my stereo made my rear view mirror vibrate off! Left the metal clip up on the windshield and everything.

Hope this helps some.
